Justin Slaten - Sent out on rehab assignment Slaten (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Impact Slaten had been scheduled to throw a live batting practice session Monday. However, he's feeling so good that the Red Sox have opted to skip that session and send him out on a rehab assignment right away. Slaten has been shelved since early June with right shoulder inflammation, so he's sure to require multiple rehab appearances before returning to Boston's active roster.

Wilyer Abreu - IL stint not ruled out Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Abreu (calf) feels better Monday, but a trip to the 10-day injured list remains in play, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Impact Abreu had to be lifted from Sunday's game versus the Marlins due to right calf tightness. He's already been ruled out through the team's off day Wednesday, and a return Thursday for the start of a four-game set versus the Yankees is not a given. Roman Anthony is playing right field for the Red Sox on Monday.

Connor Norby - Cleared for rehab games Norby (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Norby needed hamate bone surgery on his left hand in mid-July and is now ready to test out his surgically repaired wrist in a game setting. If all goes well, he should rejoin the Marlins' active roster before the end of August.

Ryan Weathers - Facing hitters Wednesday Weathers (lat) will throw a live batting practice session Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact It will be the first time the left-hander has faced hitters since he went down with a lat strain in early June. If Weathers gets through Wednesday's session without any hiccups, he could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. The lefty is hoping to rejoin the Marlins' rotation in September.
