Nick Gordon - Moving off 40-man roster The Marlins will designate Gordon for assignment Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Gordon had taken back a near-everyday role in the Miami outfield toward the end of July, but he failed to do much with the more consistent playing time. He had submitted a lowly .449 OPS since the All-Star break and had not fared much better on the season, producing a .227/.258/.369 slash line across 275 plate appearances. Since he has the ability to play multiple outfield and infield spots and is under contract at an affordable $900,000 salary, Gordon could draw some interest on the waiver wire from teams looking to bolster their bench, but he's unlikely to see regular at-bats no matter where lands.

Bryce Elder - Called up, will start Tuesday Atlanta recalled Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

Impact He'll join Atlanta's 26-man active roster as a replacement for right-hander Reynaldo Lopez (forearm), who was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. According to Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Elder will also take over Lopez's spot in the rotation, as he's scheduled to start Tuesday in the first game of Atlanta's home series versus Milwaukee. Elder has previously made nine starts for the big club this season, delivering a 5.67 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB across 46 innings.

Reynaldo López - Goes on IL with forearm swelling Atlanta placed Lopez on the 15-day injured list Monday with right forearm inflammation.

Impact Atlanta had been hoping that Lopez would miss just one turn through the rotation after an MRI revealed no structural damage to his forearm, but the right-hander wasn't progressing as quickly as expected, as he hadn't thrown off a mound since exiting his last start July 28. The club will now give Lopez some extra time to heal up, and since his placement on the IL is backdated to this past Friday, he'll be eligible for activation as soon as Aug. 17. Atlanta called up Bryce Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move, and he'll step into Lopez's spot in the rotation and start Tuesday's game against the Brewers.
