Gets MiLB deal from Orioles The Orioles signed Viloria to a minor-league contract Monday, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact Viloria went 5-for-30 in the minors while with the Angels, and now he'll look to turn the tide with Triple-A Norfolk while giving the Orioles organizational depth behind the plate. Viloria appeared in 10 games in the majors this season with Cleveland, but the chances of him making it back are slim.

Released by Angels Viloria was released by the Angels on June 2, per Taylor Blake Ward of AngelsWin.com.

Impact Los Angeles signed Viloria to a minor-league deal May 11 but let him go less than a month later. The 26-year-old backstop played in 10 games for the organization's Triple-A affiliate, slashing .167/.265/.33 with a home run and an RBI. He's logged time in the majors in parts of five different seasons, compiling a .198/.270/.279 slash line with three long balls and 24 RBI over 103 contests between the Royals, Rangers and Guardians. Viloria will presumably try to find a new landing spot with a club in need of catching depth.

Impact Viloria will join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for Sam Huff, who had been serving as the primary backup to top catcher Jonah Heim. Huff had also received some playing time at first base and designated hitter, but his opportunities to pick up starts were bound to take a hit with the Rangers bringing Mitch Garver (illness) back from the COVID-19-related injured list Tuesday. The Rangers still want Huff to play on a near-everyday basis, while Viloria's development isn't as much of a priority. With that in mind, the Rangers preferred to keep Viloria around in the majors, where he'll likely to play just once or twice a week when Heim needs maintenance.
