Rehab start planned for Tuesday
Scherzer (oblique) said he's planning on making a rehab start Tuesday at one of the Mets' minor-league affiliates, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact
According to Tim Healey of Newsday, Scherzer feels he's ready to move on to the final phase of his recovery program from a left oblique strain after he tossed approximately 50 pitches Thursday in a three-inning simulated game. The Mets will likely check back in with Scherzer over the weekend before confirming him for the rehab start. The 37-year-old will likely look to push for around 75 pitches in the upcoming rehab start, which would set him up for a return from the 15-day injured list as soon as the Mets' June 26 game in Miami.

Sim game set for Thursday
Scherzer (oblique) confirmed that he'll throw a simulated game Thursday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact
Scherzer will take a big step forward in his recovery after he completed an improvised "bullpen session" in the outfield Tuesday, using all of his pitches while throwing off flat ground from approximately 60 feet. The right-hander noted that he received a platelet-rich plasma shot shortly after being diagnosed with the high-grade oblique strain May 19, and the injection looks as though it may have expedited his recovery process. Scherzer said he expects to make just one rehab start before coming off the 15-day injured list, which could come next week if Thursday's live BP session goes as well as hoped. That would give Scherzer a chance at rejoining the big-league rotation before the end of June.

Hoping for just one rehab start
Scherzer (oblique), who will throw a simulated game Thursday, hopes to make just one rehab start before rejoining the rotation, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact
He threw off flat ground Tuesday, and given his intended timeline, a sim game Thursday followed by a rehab start next week would put him on track to return at the end of June. However, Scherzer noted the tricky nature of oblique injuries, so a June return would be a best-case scenario. Also of note, Healey reported that Scherzer got a shot of platelet-rich plasma after getting hurt.

Live BP scheduled
Scherzer (oblique) is slated to throw live batting practice later this week, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact
He threw off flat ground Tuesday from about 60 feet on the outfield grass. Scherzer continues to make good progress, with the scheduled live batting practice session potentially preceding game action of some kind, whether in the big leagues or on a brief rehab assignment.

Throws off flat ground
Scherzer (oblique) was spotted Tuesday taking part in a flat ground throwing session in which he appeared to be using all of his pitches, David Lennon of Newsday reports.
Impact
Throwing from about 60 feet out during his workout in the outfield, Scherzer wasn't pitching at full velocity, but his activity is an encouraging sign as he works his way back from a high-grade left oblique strain. The throwing session also supports the notion that Scherzer's pitching hand feels fine after it was bitten by one of his dogs just over a week ago. Scherzer should be ready to get back on a mound in the near future and then potentially face hitters in live batting practice before the Mets begin preparing for his return from the 15-day injured list.
