INJURIES

Could move to live BP soon Scherzer (ankle) looked good in Friday's bullpen session and could be ready to throw live batting practice beginning this week, Thomas Harrigan of MLB.com reports.
Impact "Max threw another bullpen [session] yesterday. He threw the ball really well," manager Dave Martinez said Saturday. "He's going to have a couple days off, and then we'll figure out if he wants to throw live BP or throw another bullpen. This was his day to recoup, get some treatment, and we'll go from there." The 36-year-old Scherzer appears on track to be ready for Opening Day.

Turns in another bullpen session Nationals skipper Dave Martinez said that Scherzer (ankle) completed a 40-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact The side session was the second in as many days for Scherzer, who looks to be nearing the finish line in his recovery from the left ankle sprain he picked up during an offseason workout earlier this month. Scherzer estimated Wednesday that he was at about 80-to-85 percent health, the same gauge he provided for his condition over the weekend. He'll likely throw another bullpen session later this week before facing hitters in live batting practice, after which he should be closer to 100 percent.

Throws off mound Scherzer (ankle) threw off a mound Tuesday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Scherzer wasn't throwing at 100 percent, but this still represents a step forward for the veteran. He showed up to camp with an ankle sprain, an injury he suffered while doing conditioning work in early February. He continues to make progress, however, and with over a month remaining until Opening Day, there's a good chance the issue has no impact on his regular-season performance.

Throws from 60 feet Scherzer (ankle) felt good after throwing from 60 feet Sunday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Scherzer's spring preparation has been slowed by a sprained ankle he suffered during conditioning work in early February. He estimates he's at 80 to 85 percent right now, which should give him plenty of time to get up to full speed by Opening Day.

Slowed by sprained ankle Scherzer sprained his ankle two weeks ago and will be slightly delayed to start camp, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Impact Scherzer suffered the injury during conditioning. While the issue doesn't appear to be a particularly serious one, it's obviously preferable for any pitcher (let alone a 36-year-old) to enter camp injury-free. The veteran will be held back from mound work for the next few days, but he shouldn't be at too much risk of missing Opening Day if he can get back on the mound soon.
