Returns from IL The Cubs reinstated Shaw (back) from the injured list Tuesday, Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Impact Shaw has been on the shelf since late May due to back tightness, but he's been cleared to return after going 4-for-14 with an RBI, two runs and a steal in four rehab games at Triple-A Iowa. The 24-year-old has slashed just .242/.291/.400 across 104 plate appearances this season, though he could still receive an uptick in playing time with Nico Hoerner, Alex Bregman and Dansby Swanson all struggling offensively as of late. Kevin Alcantara was optioned to Iowa in a corresponding move.

Returning from IL on Tuesday The Cubs will activate Shaw (back) from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's contest in Colorado, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Shaw was sent to the IL a little over two weeks ago with mid-back tightness, but he's ready to rejoin the big club after going 4-for-14 with a 2:2 BB:K over four rehab games with Triple-A Iowa. With Dansby Swanson's ongoing struggles, Shaw could see more playing time than he had been getting before his injury. However, Shaw hasn't exactly pushed for a bigger role himself this season, slashing .242/.291/.400 across 42 games.
