Returns from injured list
Wisler (finger) was reinstated from the injured list Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact
Wisler has made just a single major-league appearances since Aug. 15, as he returned from a trip to the injured list for middle finger inflammation in early September only to head right back to the injured list. He's evidently feeling better now and will have a few days to prove to the Rays that he's healthy and effective enough for a spot on the playoff roster. Ryan Sherriff was optioned to clear a spot in the bullpen.

Continues trending upward

Impact
Wisler has now been able to remain free of setbacks for 10 days during his recovery from the finger injury on his throwing hand. The right-hander was described as definitely "going in the right direction" by manager Kevin Cash on Wednesday, and it remains to be seen if he'll be activated in time to get some work in before the conclusion of the regular season.

Throws bullpen Sunday
Wisler (finger) threw a bullpen session Sunday without setbacks, the team's official site reports.
Impact
The right-hander was able to throw a pair of bullpens during the weekend series against the Marlins overall and continues to demonstrate he could be over his finger issue. If all continues well, Wisler could return from the injured list for the Rays' final road trip of the season during the coming week without the need for a rehab assignment.

Exam shows no additional damage
Wisler underwent imaging Tuesday that confirmed no additional damage to his injured finger, but he'll remain shut down from throwing "for a little bit" according to manager Kevin C...
Impact
The right-hander has been dealing with the finger issue since Aug. 13, when he first went on the injured list as a result of it. His Sept. 8 return lasted all of five pitches before a flare-up occurred, leaving Wisler's availability for the remainder of the regular season up in the air despite Tuesday's encouraging news.

Facing 10-day shutdown
Wisler (finger) isn't expected to throw for at least 10 days, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact
Wisler was placed on the injured list Wednesday, and he'll see a hand specialist Friday to determine the extent of his injury. The team's doctors are hopeful that the right-hander's shutdown will allow time for his inflammation to subside. Since Wisler will need time to build back up after his pause, he's slated to miss more than the minimum of 10 days.
