Impact Saturday will mark the first time Brash has thrown off a mound since undergoing an internal brace procedure on his right elbow in early May. He's not expected to be ready for regular-season action until mid-April at the earliest, but a return to mound work is still an encouraging sign.

Impact While everything with Brash's recovery from last May's internal brace procedure has come along swimmingly, Dipoto acknowledged the uncertainty with how the righty will respond to throwing in Cactus League games. Brash will begin the season on the injured list either way, but the hope is that the stint will be a short one. The 26-year-old boasts a career 31.9 percent strikeout rate and will be in line for high-leverage relief work once he's ready.

Aiming for late April return The Mariners are optimistic Brash (elbow) can make his 2025 season debut by the end of April, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.

Impact Brash had an internal brace procedure on his right elbow in early May, so a return by April would be aggressive. However, he's been working out at the team's spring training complex in Arizona and is considered ahead of schedule in his recovery. Brash was dynamite out of Seattle's bullpen in 2023, posting a 3.06 ERA and 107:29 K:BB across 70.2 innings. Once healthy, he will serve in a leverage relief role for the Mariners.

Due to the fact Brash had an internal brace procedure instead of a full Tommy John surgery, his recovery isn't expected to take much more than 12 months, leaving him with a chance to be back in action by June 2025.

Impact Brash underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery May 8 but looks to be progressing well in the early stages of his rehab. He shed a protective brace on his elbow a little over a month ago and will take the first meaningful step forward in his recovery when he begins throwing in a few weeks. If he continues to experience no setbacks with his throwing program late in the season and throughout the offseason, Brash could be ready to face hitters by the end of spring training, but he'll still almost certainly open the 2025 campaign on the injured list.

Impact The Mariners bullpen as a whole was called on for extended duty Sunday after starter Emerson Hancock was forced from the game following two innings due to a shoulder strain. The urgency was compounded when Taylor Saucedo, who relieved Hancock, failed to retire a batter while giving up five runs, but Brash was one of multiple relievers to pick up the slack. He got his four outs on a relatively efficient 23 pitches while posting his second straight scoreless appearance after allowing runs in back-to-back appearances against the Royals last Monday and on Wednesday. Brash had recorded saves in each of his two most recent outings, so he continues to be one of the more versatile bullpen options for manager Scott Servais and an increasingly valuable fantasy asset as a result.
