Back from injured list
The Athletics reinstated Leiter (hip) from the 15-day injured list Friday.
Impact
Leiter was placed on the 15-day IL on June 18 due to a right hip impingement. He's been cleared to return to the majors without embarking on a rehab assignment and will reclaim his spot in the A's bullpen. Geoff Hartlieb was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Starts throwing progression
Leiter (hip) began a throwing progression Monday, MLB.com reports.
Impact
Leiter was placed on the injured list Saturday (retroactive to Thursday) due to a right hip impingement, but he didn't require much downtime before resuming throwing. The Athletics are hopeful that the right-hander can return to the big-league club when first eligible July 3. In 29.2 innings this season, Leiter owns a 4.85 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB with four saves.

Moves to injured list
The Athletics placed Leiter on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Thursday, with a right hip impingement, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Leiter has given up just one earned run in his last 14 innings, but the A's will be without his services for at least a couple of weeks while he recovers from a hip injury. Geoff Hartlieb was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to replenish the team's bullpen depth.

Registers fourth save
Leiter earned a save against the Angels on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in a scoreless 10th inning.
Impact
The game went into an extra frame, and after the A's managed a run in the top of the 10th, Leiter was called upon to close things out. He got into trouble when Jo Adell hit a leadoff single to put runners at first and third with no outs, but Leiter got out of the jam by striking out Josh Lowe before getting Jorge Soler to ground into a double play. The save was Leiter's fourth of the campaign, tying his career-best mark. He's now tied with Joel Kuhnel and Hogan Harris for the most saves on the squad, while Jack Perkins is right in the mix with three saves. Harris is probably the most desirable Athletics reliever for fantasy managers to roster since he had notched the team's past three saves coming into Thursday, but this seems to be a committee, which isn't ideal for fantasy purposes.

Tosses scoreless frame
Leiter threw a perfect inning while striking out two Thursday against the Cardinals.
Impact
Leiter was called upon to pitch the seventh inning and did so without issue, retiring the side in order while adding a pair of strikeouts. It marked the third consecutive scoreless outing for the right-hander, who has struggled mightily at times during his first season with the Athletics. Leiter has allowed multiple runs in four appearances this year, contributing to a 7.64 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 17.2 total innings in 2026.

Nabs third save
Leiter walked one and struck out one without giving up a run over one-third of an inning, earning the save in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Royals.
Impact
Joel Kuhnel entered the game in relief of starter Luis Severino in the eighth inning when the Athletics were up 5-1. In the ninth, Kuhnel created some trouble and allowed a run on two hits and a sacrifice fly. Leiter was brought in and closed the door, earning his first save since April 14. Over his last six outings, Leiter has covered five innings, surrendering one run on four hits and three walks while adding six strikeouts. He's part of the closing committee, and this save has Leiter within one of Kuhnel for the team lead in saves. Leiter is at a 6.23 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over 13 innings while adding three saves in five chances and one hold over 15 appearances.

Picks up second save
Miller earned a save against the Rangers on Tuesday, striking out two batters over a scoreless inning of work.
Impact
Leiter had just a one-run lead to work with when he entered in the ninth frame, but he breezed through a 1-2-3 inning on just 13 pitches. The right-hander recorded the Athletics' first save of the season March 31 against Atlanta, but he had blown both of his save chances (each of which were eighth-inning appearances) since. Over the past week, and Joel Kuhnel posted two saves for the team while Hogan Harris recorded one, so it's anyone's guess who will get the next opportunity. The Athletics' closer situation appears to be a full-fledged committee, making it tough to approach from a fantasy angle.

Surrenders four runs
Leiter (0-1) blew the save and took the loss in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees. He allowed four runs on four hits and no walks with no strikeouts over two-thirds of an inning.
Impact
Leiter entered in the eighth inning with a two-run cushion but quickly gave it up, highlighted by a two-run homer from Amed Rosario that gave the Yankees the lead. The veteran right-hander has now recorded a blown save in each of his past two appearances and owns a 10.38 ERA and 2.54 WHIP through 4.1 innings. Leiter is still the only Athletics reliever to record a save this season, but with a closer-by-committee setup and a lack of defined roles in the bullpen, blow-up outings like Tuesday's hurt his chances of seeing consistent high-leverage opportunities.

Charged with blown save Sunday
Leiter was charged with a blown save Sunday against the Astros, allowing one hit and one walk across one inning.
Impact
After Scott Barlow was unable to retire any of the four batters he faced to begin the eighth inning, Leiter was brought on with a 9-7 lead and runners on second and third. Leiter walked Yordan Alvarez to load the bases and allowed a game-tying, two-run single to Cam Smith two batters later. Leiter still owns the Athletics' lone save through nine games and has a 2.45 ERA across 3.2 innings.

Collects first save of 2026
Leiter earned the save in Monday's 5-2 win over Atlanta, allowing two hits while striking out one batter in one inning. He did not issue a walk.
Impact
Leiter was brought out for the ninth inning to protect the Athletics' three-run lead. He yielded hits to two of the first three batters he faced but bounced back to strike out Ronald Acuna before getting Drake Baldwin to pop out to second. Leiter is competing against Scott Barlow and Hogan Harris for the Athletics' closer job, but Leiter has earned the first save of the season for the organization, with Barlow blowing his opportunity against the Blue Jays on Saturday.
