INJURIES

Outrighted to Triple-A Church cleared waivers Wednesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Round Rock.
Impact Church was kicked off the 40-man roster last week after giving up two earned runs over 4.2 innings with the big club, but he will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 25-year-old righty is likely to spend most of his time this year at Triple-A, where he's allowed four earned runs on nine hits and four walks in just 4.2 frames.

Rangers OF Wyatt Langford put on 10-day IL because of flexor strain in forearm

Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford has been put on the injured list with a Grade 1 flexor strain after exiting his last game because of right forearm tightness

Booted from 40-man roster The Rangers designated Church for assignment Wednesday.
Impact Church has given up four earned runs over 4.2 innings in the minors this year, and he'll now give up his spot on the 40-man roster to make room for Cal Quantrill and Gavin Collyer.

Opening season in Round Rock The Rangers optioned Church to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
Impact Church made his Cactus League debut during Sunday's game against the Dodgers, when he struck out one batter and was charged with two runs (one earned) on two hits in one inning while tossing 19 pitches (13 strikes). He missed the majority of spring training while recovering from a teres major strain. That extended absence, coupled with the fact that he has minor-league options, will lead to Church opening the 2026 season in Triple-A, though he should see some major-league action when the Rangers need to bolster their bullpen.

Makes spring debut Church (lat) struck out a batter and was charged with two runs (one earned) on two hits over an inning of relief Sunday in the Rangers' 5-3 loss to the Dodgers in Cactus League pla...
Impact After being brought along slowly in spring training while he recovered from a right lat strain, Church finally completed his throwing progression and received clearance to make his Cactus League debut Sunday. The right-hander pumped in 13 of his 19 pitches for strikes, but he ended up taking the loss after surrendering a tie-breaking RBI single to Andy Pages. Though Church is one of the more talented relief arms on Texas' 40-man roster, the time he missed in camp along with the fact that he has a minor-league option remaining could hurt his chances of winning a spot in the Rangers' Opening Day bullpen.

Ready for live work Church (lat) is slated to throw live bullpen sessions Tuesday and Friday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Church is working his way back from a teres major strain and could be cleared for game action by early next week if he responds well to his upcoming live sessions. The 24-year-old righty has made just six career appearances in the majors, but he boasts one of the more electric arms in the organization and could be a factor in the late innings for the Rangers later on in 2026 if he can stay healthy and keep the free passes in check.
MARCH 1 • ROTOWIRE
Tosses side session Church (lat) completed a bullpen session Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Impact Church apparently responded well to the side session and is close to facing hitters in live batting practice, something that could happen within the next few days. The 24-year-old is working his way back from a right lat strain, but barring any setbacks in his throwing program, he could be ready to make his Cactus League debut at some point within the next couple of weeks. Though he lacks much big-league experience with just six appearances to his name, Church possesses some of the best stuff of any of the Rangers' relief arms and could enter the high-leverage mix at some point in 2026.

Nursing lat strain Church is behind schedule this spring due to a right lat strain, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Impact Church dealt with lat issues for a large portion of the 2025 campaign, as well. The expectation is that he will be ready to throw off a mound again sometime in March, but Church's status for Opening Day is uncertain. Church has some of the best upside out of anyone in the Rangers' shaky bullpen, but he'll have to get healthy first.

On Triple-A IL with elbow injury Church is on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Round Rock with right elbow inflammation, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Impact Church has spent most of this season at Round Rock and had struggled this month before getting hurt, yielding six runs with a 4:9 K:BB over 4.2 innings. The Rangers are still evaluating the reliever's injury before mapping out a rehab plan.
JUNE 24, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Sidelined at Triple-A Church is on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Round Rock with an oblique injury, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact It was reported April 22 that he would be shut down for 7-to-10 days. Church was optioned to Triple-A on April 16 after walking more batters (six) than he struck out (five) in 4.2 innings with the big club. The 24-year-old relief pitching prospect showed roughly the same velocity on his pitches as in 2024, using his 87-mph slider slightly more than his 96-mph fastball. He still has a chance to figure into the late innings in a year or two.

Sent down to Triple-A The Rangers optioned Church to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Impact Church drew some buzz during spring training and manager Bruce Bochy even floated his name as a potential closer candidate. However, Church struggled to throw strikes in the early going with a 5:6 K:BB over 4.2 frames, resulting in a move to the minors. Jacob Latz will absorb Church's roster spot.
APRIL 16, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Named to Opening Day roster Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Church has made the Rangers' Opening Day roster, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact The Rangers skipper mentioned Church as a possible closer candidate earlier in camp, and his impressive strikeout stuff certainly warrants him being in that conversation. However, the 23-year-old righty finished Cactus League play with four runs allowed in 8.2 innings, so save opportunities will likely be split between Luke Jackson, Chris Martin and Robert Garcia to begin the season.

Texas Rangers top 30 prospects: No. 16 Marc Church could be high-leverage bullpen option Church should have an opportunity to bring his powerful stuff to the back end of the Rangers’ bullpen in 2025.
MARCH 8, 2025 • DALLASNEWS.COM
Possible closer candidate Rangers manager Bruce Bochy mentioned Church when asked recently about potential candidates at closer, Jack Magruder of MLB.com reports.
Impact The top two candidates to close for Texas look to be Chris Martin and Robert Garcia, but Bochy's willingness to throw Church's name into the mix is notable. The skipper said he sees Church as being a closer "sometime down the road here" and "it could be when we break camp." Church missed much of the 2024 season with a right shoulder strain, but he's healthy now and has been clocked in the upper 90s this spring, having allowed two runs with a 5:1 K:BB in three Cactus League innings.

Recalled by Texas The Rangers recalled Church from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
Impact Church will have an opportunity to make his MLB debut out of the Rangers' bullpen this weekend against the Angels. The 23-year-old right-hander battled through a right shoulder strain for much of the season, but he returned from Round Rock's 60-day injured list in mid-August. In his 11 Triple-A outings since being reinstated from the IL, Church posted a 2.87 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB over 15.2 innings.
SEPTEMBER 27, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Back at full strength Church (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day injured list Thursday.
Impact Church was placed on the 7-day injured list April 18 due to a right shoulder strain and was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 1. He completed a rehab stint with High-A Hickory on Aug. 11 and has since made two relief appearances for the Express, surrendering two runs (one earned) on four hits over two innings.
AUGUST 20, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Starting up rehab assignment Church (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Hickory on Sunday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
Impact A member of the Rangers' 40-man roster, Church has yet to make his MLB debut and has been out since mid-April with a right lat strain. He remains on Triple-A Round Rock's 60-day injured list and will likely require multiple rehab appearances in the lower levels of the minors before he rejoins the Rangers' top affiliate.
AUGUST 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Won't crack Opening Day roster Church was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, Michael Bier of Foul Territory reports.
Impact Church appeared to be on track to make the big-league roster given his 2.53 ERA and 0.94 WHIP across 10.2 innings during spring training, but the club announced Monday that he's headed for the minor leagues. The right-hander's impressive spring is unlikely to go unnoticed, and he should factor into the bullpen mix at some point this year.
MARCH 26, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Pegged for roster Church is listed as part of the Opening Day bullpen in the updated roster projection compiled by Kennedi Landry of MLB.com.
Impact Church has impressed this spring and put himself in position to make his MLB debut. The right-hander has allowed one run on two hits and three walks while striking out 10 over nine Cactus League innings.

Elevated to 40-man The Rangers selected Church to their 40-man roster Tuesday.
Impact Church registered a 3.63 ERA and 79:38 K:BB over 62 innings this past season between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. The 22-year-old relief prospect is now protected from next month's Rule 5 Draft and could make his major-league debut at some point in 2024.
NOVEMBER 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Earns promotion Church was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Church holds a 4.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP through 18 innings with Double-A Frisco; however, his numbers are heavily inflated by a performance in which he allowed four runs in 1.1 innings. If the 22-year-old righty is able to adjust well to Triple-A hitters, he will likely finish the season in Round Rock.
