Drives in three in nightcap Tuesday
Franco went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and three RBI during a 7-6 win over the Mariners in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
Impact
After going 0-for-3 with a strikeout in the matinee, Franco swatted a bases-loaded double in the third inning of the nightcap to get the O's on the board. The 28-year-old has been productive to begin his tenure in Baltimore, and while he's hitting only .220 (9-for-41) with a .685 OPS through 11 games, Franco has one homer and 12 RBI, and his 6:6 BB:K suggests better days are ahead for his overall line.

Plates pair in win
Franco went 1-for-4 with a two-RBI single in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Red Sox.
Impact
Franco opened the scoring with his lone hit of the game, which scored Rio Ruiz and Austin Hays. The 28-year-old Franco has opened the year as the Orioles' primary third baseman. He was solid in 2020 with eight homers, 38 RBI, 23 runs scored and a .278/.321/.457 slash line in 60 games with the Royals. He's not the best defensive player around -- Franco has been lifted for second baseman Ramon Urias in the late innings of both of the Orioles' games this year, allowing Ruiz to shift over to third base.

Expected to be non-tendered
Franco will be non-tendered by the Royals on Wednesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Franco was expected to command a fairly sizable contract during arbitration, so Kansas City will elect to part ways with the third baseman instead during an offseason in which teams are expected to be financially conscious. The 28-year-old had a .778 OPS with eight home runs and 38 RBI during his first season with the Royals in 2020, and he'll likely be able to find another starting job at the hot corner next season.
