Gets five outs for save Weaver struck out three over 1.2 perfect innings to earn the save in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Athletics.
Impact Clay Holmes struggled in the eighth inning, but Weaver was able to escape without trouble. Weaver then stayed in for the ninth to close out the contest and earn his fourth save, all of which have come over his last seven appearances. Weaver is now at a 2.93 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 101:26 K:BB over 83 innings this season, and he continues to pitch in the highest-leverage moments.

Grabs third save Weaver allowed an unearned run on one hit and struck out three over one inning to earn the save in Friday's 4-2 extra-inning win over the Athletics.
Impact Weaver was able to protect a three-run lead despite yielding a run on JJ Bleday's RBI single. This was just the third time in 19 outings since the start of August where Weaver has been scored on, and he gave up multiple runs in each of the other two instances. He's up to three saves and 23 holds this year while maintaining a 2.99 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 98:26 K:BB over 81.1 innings. Weaver has thrived in his second stint as a reliever, and while he's not the official closer for the Yankees just yet, he appears to be the team's top high-leverage arm.

Impact Boone noted that he wouldn't hesitate to use Weaver earlier in the game if the situation calls for it. Weaver has notched two saves since Clay Holmes was demoted from the closer role and boasts a dominant 16:3 K:BB over 7.1 scoreless innings over that time. However, while he might be the favorite to lead the Yankees in saves down the stretch, it doesn't sound like Boone is anxious to have defined roles in the back-end of his bullpen.

Snags sixth win Weaver (6-3) picked up the win in an extra-inning battle against the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing one walk over 1.2 scoreless innings while striking out four.
Impact Weaver relieved Clay Holmes with one out in the bottom of the eighth after the latter surrendered a solo home run to Justin Turner to tie the game at 1-1. The 31-year-old Deland native then got the next two batters to go down on strikes before adding another two strikeouts in the ninth. The win was Weaver's sixth on the campaign and he's now logged multiple strikeouts in five-consecutive appearances. He sports a 2.16 ERA in September to go along with a dominant 17:3 K:BB.

Weaver now owns a 3.09 ERA with a 91:25 K:BB over 78.2 innings. With Clay Holmes seemingly out of the ninth-inning picture, Weaver should be expected to see more save opportunities down the stretch.

Impact Isaac Paredes made Weaver work for the final out, but Weaver ultimately shut the door on his 25th pitch to earn the first save of his nine-year MLB career. Aaron Boone said earlier in the week that the club would get "creative" with the closer role in light of Clay Holmes' struggles in the ninth inning, and while Weaver has not been part of the saves mix until now, he leads the team in holds and would appear to have the leg up for save chances down the stretch.
