Impact It was presumably a cortisone injection or something similar to help with the pain. The issue first popped up last week. Bard projected to make the Opening Day bullpen, but it's possible he will open the year on the shelf.

Impact Bard made just one relief appearance for the Angels this season, but he'll return to the alternate training site after Patrick Sandoval was recalled ahead of his start Saturday. While Bard wasn't used much during his time on the active roster, he could return to the major-league bullpen at some point after he was effective in his lone appearance.
