Matos was removed from the 40-man roster last week, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will stick around in the organization as outfield depth. The 24-year-old went 4-for-20 with a 1:7 BB:K across nine games during his time with the Brewers.

Removed from 40-man roster
The Brewers designated Matos for assignment Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact
Matos was acquired via trade shortly after Opening Day but went only 4-for-20 with a 1:7 BB:K. He could report to Triple-A Nashville is he clears waivers, though some teams could try to claim the 24-year-old with the hope it could coax more out of him.

Traded to Milwaukee
The Brewers acquired Matos from the Giants on Monday in exchange for cash considerations.
Impact
Matos had been designated for assignment by the Giants last week and will now join a Brewers team that was in the need for some position player depth as they navigate injuries. The 24-year-old Matos is a former top prospect but has managed just a .231/.281/.369 batting line in 593 career plate appearances at the big-league level. He is out of minor-league options, so Matos will go directly onto the major-league roster.

DFA'd by San Francisco
The Giants Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News Wednesday.
Impact
The 24-year-old was unable to win a spot on San Francisco's Opening Day roster and is out of minor-league options, so the club can't freely send him to the minors. Matos has been unable to find much traction across parts of three MLB campaigns and has a .231/.281/.369 slash line in 593 career plate appearances.

Multi-hit effort in spring win
Matos went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Friday's 6-3 Cactus League win over the Reds.
Impact
Matos hit an RBI double to center in the second inning and later cracked a solo homer to left in the sixth. The 24-year-old outfielder has enjoyed a strong start to Cactus League play, slashing .450/.500/.850 with five runs scored, four RBI, two long balls and two doubles across 22 plate appearances in 10 outings. With Harrison Bader's (thumb) arrival sending Jung Hoo Lee (ankle) to right field, Matos is fighting for a roster spot ahead of Opening Day. He is out of minor league options and may end up having to explore other opportunities.

Could be odd man out in outfield
Matos could be the player whose outlook is most negatively impacted by the Giants' signing of Harrison Bader, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
Matos had been set to compete for playing time in right field, but Jung Hoo Lee will now shift to that position to accommodate the arrival of Bader in center field. He's managed just a .231/.281/.369 batting line over parts of three big-league seasons and is out of minor-league options, but Matos will turn only 24 later this week and could be a change-of-scenery candidate if the Giants don't think they can fit him on their roster.

Optioned to Triple-A
The Giants optioned Matos to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.
Impact
The move makes room on the Giants' roster for top hitting prospect Bryce Eldridge, who will make his major-league debut against the Diamondbacks on Monday. Matos has seen his playing time dip slightly in September, and in seven games since Sept. 2 he has gone 3-for-21 (.143) with three runs and one RBI.
