INJURIES

Dealing with leg contusion Gonzalez exited Friday's game against the Marlins with a lower-leg contusion and X-rays were negative, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact He was hit on the leg just below his right knee by a pitch in his first at-bat of the game and had to exit. It sounds like he dodged a serious injury and is likely day-to-day.

Exits after HBP Gonzalez left Friday's game against the Marlins after being hit by a pitch just below his right knee, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact He took first base initially but then came out of the game, which is an unfortunate development for the NL Rookie of the Month for May. His status will be updated once the team releases the injury designation.

First four-hit game Gonzalez went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI during Tuesday's 7-4 win at Philadelphia in 11 innings.
Impact Gonzalez continues to hit well for the Giants, and his role is unlikely to diminish much while making such significant contributions at the plate. It was the 26-year-old's eighth multi-hit game of the campaign, and he has a 1.000 OPS over his last six contests.
JUNE 1, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Takes seat Wednesday Gonzalez isn't starting Wednesday against the Mets, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and a strikeout in Tuesday's win over the Mets, and he'll be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Joc Pederson, Stuart Fairchild and Mike Yastrzemski will start in the outfield from left to right.
MAY 25, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Three hits in wild win Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 13-12 win over the Mets.
Impact Gonzalez was one of seven Giants to record multiple hits in the high-scoring contest. Since returning to the majors May 20, the outfielder is 5-for-17 (.294) with a pair of doubles and a run scored. Injuries are piling up around the lineup for the Giants, so Gonzalez should be in line for regular playing time against right-handed pitchers. He's slashing .338/.385/.475 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 12 runs scored, three stolen base and five doubles in 91 plate appearances overall.
MAY 25, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting Monday Gonzalez is not in the lineup Monday against the Mets.
Impact After starting the last three games, Gonzalez will hit the bench with lefty David Peterson on the mound. He's hit well across 85 plate appearances, maintaining a .324/.376/.459 line. Darin Ruf will take over in left field with Kevin Padlo starting at first base.
MAY 23, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Gets third straight start Gonzalez will start in right field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Padres.
Impact Since being called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Gonzalez has seemingly recaptured the near-everyday role he held prior to his demotion to the minors May 16. With LaMonte Wade (knee) back on the injured list, Gonzalez will pick up his third consecutive start in right field after going 1-for-8 with a double and a walk between the first two games of the series.
MAY 22, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Recalled by San Francisco Gonzalez was recalled by the Giants on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact The 26-year-old was sent down Monday, but he'll rejoin the major-league roster after LaMonte Wade (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday. Gonzalez has hit .349 with two homers, three doubles, 15 RBI, 11 runs and three stolen bases over 21 major-league games this year, so he should be in the mix for playing time in the outfield while Wade is sidelined.
MAY 20, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned to Triple-A Gonzalez was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Impact Gonzalez owns an excellent .349/.397/.492 slash line through 21 games this season, adding two homers and three steals. He'll make way for now for Tommy La Stella (Achilles) to return from the injured list, but he seemingly did everything he could to earn another opportunity.
MAY 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Hits three-run blast Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 15-6 loss to the Cardinals.
Impact Both teams turned to position players to finish off the lopsided contest, and Gonzalez got the call on the mound for the Giants. He pitched 1.1 innings while allowing just one hit while also taking Albert Pujols deep on a three-run blast in the ninth inning. It'll count as Gonzalez's second homer of the season, and his other was back on April 25. The outfielder is hitting a sizzling .349/.397/.492 with 15 RBI, 11 runs scored and three stolen bases through 73 plate appearances, a performance that has earned him regular playing time in left field over Darin Ruf and Joc Pederson.
MAY 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Adds another steal Gonzalez went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Rockies.
Impact Gonzalez's only trip aboard came in the eighth inning on a walk, and he stole second before scoring on a LaMonte Wade single. Through 10 games in May, Gonzalez is 10-for-30 (.333) with three stolen bases, five RBI and six runs scored. While the Giants' outfield is fairly crowded, he's been in the mix for playing time, and the lefty hitter has even drawn starts against southpaws in two of the last five games.
MAY 12, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Notches steal Monday Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 8-5 win over the Rockies.
Impact Gonzalez knocked in the Giants' last run of the game in the eighth inning. While he's regularly played in the outfield, Gonzalez started as the designated hitter Monday, presumably to keep his bat in the lineup while the struggling Joc Pederson got a day off. Gonzalez is slashing .300/.345/.400 with a home run, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and two stole bases in 16 games this season. The Giants' outfield is now mostly healthy, however, so the 26-year-old may see his opportunities scaled back.
MAY 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Records first steal Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 9-1 loss to the Dodgers.
Impact His third-inning stolen base was the first of his career at the major-league level. Gonzalez has seen fairly steady playing time lately due to absences in the Giants' outfield, but that could soon change. Joc Pederson (groin) and Mike Yastrzemski (illness) were both in the lineup Wednesday, and LaMonte Wade (knee) is nearing the end of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento. Gonzalez is slashing .303/.333/.424 with a home run, eight RBI and five runs scored through 39 plate appearances, but it remains to be seen if he's done enough to maintain his place on the big-league roster once the Giants are closer to full health.

Heads to bench Tuesday Gonzalez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 26-year-old came off the bench in his first appearances of the season April 22, but he started all eight games since and went 8-for-28 with a home run, a double, seven RBI and five runs. The lefty-hitting Gonzalez will take a seat Tuesday since southpaw Julio Urias is pitching for Los Angeles. Luke Williams, Mauricio Dubon and Austin Slater will start from left to right in the outfield.

Parts ways with Giants Gonzalez (shoulder) was non-tendered by the Giants on Tuesday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact Gonzalez was claimed off waivers by the Giants in August, and he'll now depart the organization. The 26-year-old underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his right shoulder in August, and it's unclear when he's expected to be fully recovered.
DECEMBER 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Moved to 60-day IL The Giants recalled Gonzalez (shoulder) from Triple-A Sacramento and placed him on the 60-day injured list Sunday.
Impact San Francisco claimed Gonzalez off waivers from the White Sox on Wednesday, even though the 25-year-old outfielder is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery during the upcoming week to repair the labrum in his right shoulder. As such, the decision to recall him and place him on the 60-day IL appears to be a procedural move that opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for reliever Jay Jackson, who was activated from the COVID-19-related IL on Sunday.
AUGUST 15, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Claimed by Giants Gonzalez (shoulder) was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Wednesday, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Gonzalez was placed on release waivers by the White Sox on Monday and was a strong candidate to return to the team on a minor-league contract if he had gone unclaimed on waivers. The 25-year-old is slated to undergo season-ending surgery next week to address a labrum injury, so he won't take the field with his new club until at least 2022.
AUGUST 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Cut loose by Pale Hose The White Sox released Gonzalez (shoulder) on Monday.
Impact The 25-year-old was cast off the 40-man roster with Chicago needing a spot for Luis Robert (hip), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list ahead of Monday's series opener in Minnesota. According to James Fegan of The Athletic, Gonzalez -- who was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte in late June -- is set to undergo season-ending right shoulder surgery next week to address a labrum injury. The shoulder procedure would have made Gonzalez a likely non-tender candidate this winter had he remained on the 40-man roster for the rest of the season, so the White Sox's decision to part ways with him early isn't a major surprise.
AUGUST 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Out with labrum injury Gonzalez is dealing with a right labrum injury, Josh Norris of Baseball America reports.
Impact He is without a timetable to return. Gonzalez has been up and down between the majors and Triple-A this season and profiles as a fourth or fifth outfielder long term.
AUGUST 4, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Dispatched to Triple-A The White Sox optioned Gonzalez to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.
Impact Gonzalez was up with the big club for a week, going 2-for-8 with a pair of doubles and three walks while appearing in five games. He served mostly as a reserve outfielder during his time in Chicago, but he'll cede those duties to Billy Hamilton (oblique), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.
JUNE 29, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Doubles, scores in win Gonzalez started in left field and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Pittsburgh.
Impact Gonzalez made his first start after being called up Tuesday when the White Sox placed Adam Engel (hamstring) on the injured list. He was part of a makeshift outfield that included two players that did start the season in the majors (Gonzalez and Brian Goodwin) and a third who is a converted infielder (Jake Lamb). While the White Sox navigate multiple injuries in the outfield, there could be an opportunity for Gonzalez to seize regular at-bats, although his minor league track record suggests that is unlikely. He batted .195/.302/.341 in 96 plate appearances for Triple-A Charlotte prior to be being promoted.
