Signs minors deal with Cubs Luetge signed a minor-league contract with the Cubs on Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Impact Luetge opted out of his MiLB deal with the Red Sox on Saturday after posting a 3.02 ERA and 1.19 WHIP through 41.2 innings with Triple-A Worcester. He didn't have to wait long to find another gig, and he could potentially be added to the Cubs' bullpen down the stretch if he continues to perform well with Triple-A Iowa.

Impact Luetge joined Boston on a minor-league deal in February. He has spent the whole season with Triple-A Worcester, and across his 31 appearances out of the bullpen, he's registered six saves with a 3.02 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 47:13 K:BB across 41.2 innings. Luetge held a 7.24 ERA across 13.2 innings with Atlanta last season, but given his strong play in Triple-A this year, the 37-year-old southpaw should garner interest from teams in need of left-handed depth in the bullpen.
