Kenny Rosenberg - Works five frames in relief Rosenberg allowed four runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out four batters over five innings in a long-relief role against Houston on Friday.
Impact Reid Detmers started for the Angels and gave up seven runs over 2.1 frames, so Rosenberg was asked to preserve the bullpen with a lengthy relief appearance. The left-hander nearly doubled Detmers' pitch count -- Rosenberg threw 89 pitches to Detmers' 48 -- and hung around long enough for Los Angeles to need only one additional reliever in the blowout loss. It was the first major-league appearance of the season for Rosenberg, and given his starer-like workload Friday, he'll likely be held out of action for several days.

C.J. Cron - Hits first homer with new club Cron went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's loss against the Astros.
Impact Cron's second-inning home run was his first since returning to the organization with whom he made his major-league debut in 2014. Cron has played in every game for the Angels since being traded from the Rockies on July 31. He holds a .222 batting average over 36 at-bats in 11 games since the trade.

Reid Detmers - Another ugly outing Detmers (2-9) took the loss Friday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks over 2.1 innings against Houston. He struck out zero.
Impact The Astros' Jon Singleton had not hit a big-league home run since 2015 but knocked out two against Detmers, who was pulled following Singleton's third-inning blast. A rough July has turned into a full-on disastrous August for Detmers who has now allowed 14 earned runs in 6.1 August innings. This also marks the first career appearance in which he failed to record a strikeout. Unless the Angels decide to go in a different direction, Detmers will next attempt to right the ship in a mid-week matchup against Texas in Arlington.

Impact Trout will only face machine-thrown breaking balls initially, but he should soon advance to hitting high-velocity fastballs as he continues to work back from the hamate bone fracture that has kept him sidelined since early July. If his surgically-repaired wrist responds well to this uptick in activity, the Angels can then begin plotting out a date for his return.
