Shohei Ohtani - Scheduled to start Wednesday Ohtani is scheduled to start Wednesday versus the Reds after skipping his last start due to fatigue, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact The Angels elected to play things cautiously with their superstar two-way player this week when he reported some fatigue, but Ohtani is on track to take on the Reds on Aug. 23 in what would be his first start in two weeks. Ohtani hasn't allowed an earned run over his last three starts, although one of them was abbreviated due to a hand cramp.

Nolan Schanuel - Batting leadoff in MLB debut Schanuel is playing first base and batting leadoff in his major-league debut Friday versus the Rays.
Impact Schanuel will be thrust right to the top of the Angels' batting order less than two months after being selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Florida Atlantic University. He was slashing .370/.510/.493 through his first 96 professional plate appearances this summer between the Arizona Complex League, Single-A Inland Empire and Double-A Rocket City. C.J. Cron (back) went on the injured list Friday, giving the 21-year-old Schanuel a prime opportunity to impress at baseball's highest level.

Impact Angels Manager Phil Nevin said July 22 that Rendon would be shut down from baseball activities for at least two weeks after it is was discovered that he had a deep bone bruise in his left shin. That put him on target for a return in the first week of August at the earliest. With his conditioned reassessed, his return has been pushed to Sept. 9. Mike Moustakas and Eduardo Escobar will continue to share time at third base in his place.

Impact This back discomfort first popped up last weekend and Cron will now be sidelined until at least next Saturday.
