Impact Taveras will get a breather after he went 8-for-24 with two home runs, three doubles, four runs, four RBI and three stolen bases across the last six games. DJ Peters will start in center field while Jason Martin takes over in left.

Prior to his two-hit night Monday, the young outfielder was hitless in 19 at-bats since his callup and 31 at-bats dating back to April, when he opened the season on the major-league roster.

Impact Tavares had some firsts in the game. It was his first multi-hit effort of 2021 and his first extra-base hits of the year. Tavares had just four hits in his first 65 at-bats of the season before finally breaking through Monday. Despite his struggles, he'll still figure to pick up starts in center field the rest of the way while the Rangers take a look at him in an effort to determine if he'll be in their plans for 2022 and beyond.

Including his stint with the Rangers to start the season, Taveras is hitless with 11 strikeouts over his last 21 at-bats. That should not deter Texas from giving him regular at-bats over the final weeks of the season, but he is unlikely to help fantasy managers.

Impact Curtis Terry was optioned to Round Rock to make room for Taveras on the active roster. Taveras struggled to a .087/.160/.087 slash line across 15 games with the Rangers before being optioned in late April, but it would not be at all surprising if he's given another extended look down the stretch with the club well out of playoff contention.

He had been out of the lineup in four of the last six contests and will now attempt to sort things out at the team's alternate training site. Adolis Garcia should continue to serve as the primary center fielder going forward, while Eli White could also see a slight uptick in playing time.
