Signs with O's Taveras agreed to a contract with the Orioles on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Impact Taveras will head east after spending 2025 with the Rangers and Mariners, slashing just .205/.226/.304 across 180 big-league plate appearances. He posted a much more respectable .809 OPS in 81 games at Triple-A Tacoma and is likely to work as a depth piece at Triple-A Norfolk or come off the bench for the Orioles.

Impact The Mariners booted Taveras from the 40-man roster Monday and went unclaimed on waivers. The 26-year-old outfielder will look to get back on track at the plate with Tacoma after slashing .174/.198/.272 across 98 plate appearances with Seattle. Taveras slashed .241/.259/.342 with the Rangers earlier this season before being waived in early May.

Impact Taveras was scooped up by the Mariners via waivers in early May after the Rangers had removed him from their 40-man roster. However, he's now been designated for assignment again after putting up a lowly .470 OPS in 28 contests with Seattle. It's possible there's another team willing to roll the dice on Taveras with a waiver claim, but his $4.75 million salary will scare some clubs off.

Impact Since being claimed off waivers from the Rangers and getting added to the active roster May 7, Taveras has started in right field in all but one of the Mariners' ensuing 13 games. However, Taveras has largely failed to capitalize on the opportunity, as he's slashing just .150/.186/.225 with zero home runs, one stolen base, four RBI and three runs while striking out at a 38.6 percent clip.
