Impact Paris returns 24 hours after being optioned with Mike Moustakas (forearm) hitting the 10-day injured list. The 21-year-old infielder has gone 3-for-32 (.094) through his first 13 major-league games but should see regular starts down the stretch as the Angels play out the string.

Optioned to Triple-A The Angels optioned Paris to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Impact Paris earned a Sept. 1 call-up from Double-A Rocket City, where had posted an .810 OPS with 14 homers and 44 steals through 113 games this season. He'll now head to the Triple-A level, and maybe finish the year there, after going 3-for-32 (.094) with zero extra-base hits and 12 strikeouts across his first 13 major-league games.

Impact Paris is a natural middle infielder and had started at shortstop in nine of the Angels' first 10 games of September, but he lost hold of his everyday role when Zach Neto was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday. Though Paris was held out of the lineup for the past two games and is slashing just .103/.235/.103 through 35 plate appearances in the majors, the Angels are still eager to give him a look over the final few weeks of the season. To that end, Paris will pick up his first professional start in center field Wednesday while the Angels remain without the services of Mike Trout (wrist) and Mickey Moniak (back).

Impact Paris had a unique introduction to the big leagues, becoming the first player in Angels history to be hit by a pitch in his first career plate appearance, per Angels senior communications manager Matt Birch. The rookie also drew a walk in his final trip to the plate, which is no surprise given his 17.1 percent walk rate in the minors this season. Paris appears in line to serve as the Angels' primary shortstop until fellow rookie Zach Neto (back) returns from the injured list.

His 31.9 percent strikeout rate is to blame for his lower batting average, but this three-true-outcome approach could work for him if he continues to do this much damage when he connects.
