Call-up official
The Nationals confirmed that Ruiz was recalled from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Monday's game against the Phillies.
Impact
Washington has yet to release its lineup for the series opener, but it's expected to include Ruiz, who should take over as the team's everyday catcher moving forward. Between stops at Rochester and at the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City this season, the 23-year-old Ruiz hit .310 with 21 home runs and 59 RBI in 72 games.

Promotion coming Monday
The Nationals announced that Ruiz will be called up from Triple-A Rochester to make his Washington debut Monday versus the Phillies.
Impact
The key piece Washington received in the deadline deal that sent Max Scherzer and Trea Turner to the Dodgers, Ruiz has made a quick impression a month int o his tenure with a new organization. Over 20 games at Rochester, the 23-year-old switch-hitting catcher slashed .308/.365/.577 with five home runs and 14 RBI. He should settle in as Washington's everyday backstop upon joining the team Monday, and his exceptional production at Triple-A should give him a chance at emerging as a fantasy-relevant option over the final month of the season, even in leagues that start only one catcher.

Smashes two homers
Ruiz went 3-for-5 with a pair of homers and three RBI for Triple-A Rochester against Syracuse on Tuesday.
Impact
He'd been off to a bit of a cool start power-wise with his new organization, homering just once in his first 15 games since being traded, but Ruiz still fills the box score with hits even when he's not knocking them over the fence. Both of his homers Tuesday came while batting left-handed, and it's interesting to note that the switch-hitting Ruiz has hit 18 of his 19 long balls this year from the left side, where his swing is a little reminiscent of David Ortiz's. He's been no slouch from the right side, though, hit ting .320/.354/.453 (in a much smaller sample of at-bats). As a bonus in this era of hitters selling out for power, Ruiz has struck out just three times in his last 11 games (44 at-bats) and just 33 times in 298 plate appearances all season.

Impact
Ruiz has been among the Dodgers' best prospects for several seasons, but he has been blocked from consistent playing time in the majors by Will Smith and Austin Barnes. He should have the chance to make an impact with the Nationals prior to the close of the season and could take over as their primary catcher as early as 2022. Ruiz has hit .310/.379/.624 across 235 plate appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season.

Slugs three homers in Triple-A game
Ruiz went 4-for-4 with three home runs, a double, a walk and five RBI for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.
Impact
Ruiz has been on a tear at the plate of late, collecting at least one hit in seven straight games to push his season average up to .309. Overall, the backstop has crushed 16 homers across 48 contests while notching an equal number of walks and strikeouts (23). He may be the organization's top hitter currently playing in the minors, but his path to big-league playing time remains blocked by Will Smith and Austin Barnes.

Back in majors
Ruiz was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact
The 22-year-old was sent down Monday but will rejoin the Dodgers with Corey Seager (hand) landing on the injured list. Ruiz doesn't figure to see much action with Will Smith and Austin Barnes still healthy.
