Robert Garcia - Facing hitters Thursday Garcia (forearm) will face hitters Thursday, Shawn McDonald of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Garcia is behind schedule due to some irritation in his left forearm, but he's coming along nicely in his recovery. If the southpaw gets through Thursday's session with no concerns, he could be ready to appear in a Cactus League game soon. Garcia is expected to be a high-leverage reliever for the Rangers and in the mix to earn save chances.

David Buchanan - Nearing mound work Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Buchanan (ankle) "should be on the mound next week," Shawn McDonald of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Buchanan has been shelved since spraining his left ankle during a fielding drill early on in camp. He could conceivably ramp up in time for Opening Day, but the 35-year-old is a long shot to make the Rangers' roster.

Sebastian Walcott - Day-to-day with sore arm Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Walcott will be held out of workouts Wednesday and Thursday due to "a little soreness in the arm," Shawn McDonald of the Dallas Morning News r...
Impact Bochy indicated that the injury isn't serious and the team is just being cautious with its top prospect. Walcott, who doesn't turn 19 in March, is in camp as a non-roster invitee and is projected to begin the 2025 campaign at Double-A Frisco.

Wyatt Langford - Resumes light baseball activities Langford (oblique) resumed light baseball activities Wednesday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Langford was diagnosed with a mild oblique strain last week but was able to throw and run the bases Wednesday and said afterward that he's "feeling great." Swinging a bat will be a bigger test, and it's not clear when he will be ready for that. The Rangers are not worried at this juncture that Langford might not be ready for Opening Day, but the young outfielder can't afford any setbacks.

Josh Smith - Moving around diamond Smith started at first base and went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's spring game against Kansas City.
Impact This was Smith's third game, and he's started at third base and center field prior to Tuesday's deployment. For the last two seasons, he's been needed as the primary fill-in for injured starters at shortstop and third base, but the Rangers are preparing him for a more diversified role in 2025, something to which he's accustomed. In more of a utility role, Smith may not receive the nearly 600 plate appearances he had last season.

Kumar Rocker - Begins bid for rotation Rocker allowed four runs on four hits while striking out one over one inning in Tuesday's spring start against the Royals.
Impact Rocker's quest for a spot in the Rangers' rotation got off to a rocky start in his Cactus League debut. The right-hander hit the first batter faced and allowed loud contact during his one inning, during which he threw 22 pitches (14 strikes). Rocker told Kennedi Landry of MLB.com that he was leaving pitches up in the zone which contributed to three hard-hit balls. He appears to be outside the top five starters but with a good spring season going forward, Rocker could force the coaching staff's hand.

Rangers top 30 prospects: No. 26 C Jesus Lopez's defense shines, but the bat lags behind Even after Texas drafted a bushel of catchers last year, Lopez may still be the best true catcher among the group.
