Edward Olivares - Shifts to 60-day IL Olivares (quadriceps) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Impact Olivares landed on the injured list with a left quadriceps strain July 22, and the issue is apparently significant enough to keep him sidelined for at least two months. It's not yet clear whether the Royals expect him to return prior to the end of the regular season, but Nate Eaton's contract was selected Thursday to provide additional assistance in the outfield.

Nick Pratto - Not starting Thursday Pratto is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

Impact Pratto is 2-for-24 with seven walks and 14 strikeouts over his past nine contests and will head to the bench Thursday. Michael Massey will enter the lineup in his place, with Hunter Dozier shifting to first base.

Impact Eaton filled in on the active roster during the Royals' series in Toronto in mid-July and went 2-for-12 with a home run, two RBI, a walk and six strikeouts over four games. He's starting in right field and batting eighth during Thursday's game against the Red Sox, and he'll likely have a chance to earn playing time in the outfield since Kyle Isbel has struggled recently.
