Swipes fifth bag
Profar went 2-for-4 with a walk and scored twice in Wednesday's 12-3 win over Arizona.
Impact
Profar singled and scored in the fifth inning, then crossed the plate again in the eighth after leading off the frame with another single and subsequently swiping second. The 28-year-old is slashing .244/.354/.305 this season and is tied for fifth in the league with five steals. Profar figures to get plenty of chances to rack up stolen bases for a Padres team that leads MLB in thefts by a wide margin.

Steals base in loss
Profar went 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Pirates.
Impact
Profar managed to get on base three times for the third time this season. He got an RBI walk in the first, then later walked again in the fifth and reached on an infield single in the seventh and stole his second base of the year. The 28-year-old is slashing .278/.378/.333 with just three RBI and five runs scored through 12 games. He's maintained pretty solid discipline at the plate with a 7:4 BB:K but otherwise has stayed pretty quiet in terms of his overall production at the plate.

Raps three hits Saturday
Profar went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Saturday's victory over Texas.
Impact
Profar started in right field for the first time this season after logging time in left field and at first base prior to Saturday. The utility man came through with his second multi-hit game of the campaign and extended his modest hit streak to three games. Profar is slashing .346/.387/.423 on the season and has registered a standout 6.5 percent strikeout rate in the early going.

Scores two runs in loss
Profar went 1-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base and two runs scored in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Giants.
Impact
Profar actually reached base twice in this one, but one of those instances came because of a fielder's choice. His triple came on a bloop into shallow right that was misplayed by two Giants outfielders, and Profar was able to use his speed to turn it into a fluky triple. He should continue to see time in left field until Trent Grisham (hamstring) is able to return from the injured list -- which could happen quite soon.

Could step into center field role
Profar could serve as the team's everyday center fielder to begin the season if Trent Grisham (hamstring) remains sidelined, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Grisham suffered a hamstring injury Thursday, though there isn't a lot of concern about the severity to this point. If, however, Grisham is sidelined longer than expected, Profar could see a significant increase in playing time. Brian O'Grady and Jorge Mateo are other candidates to play in center field, though they have yet to prove themselves at the big-league level the way that Profar has.

Back in action
Profar (groin) will bat second and play left field Thursday against Cleveland.
Impact
Profar has had a disrupted spring, arriving late due to visa issues before suffering a minor groin injury that kept him sidelined for four days. He's ready to play again with three weeks remaining until Opening Day, which should be enough time for him to get up to speed, especially as he isn't penciled in for an everyday role.

Dealing with groin tightness
Profar has missed three straight games due to tightness in his groin, but he could return to action Thursday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Profar got off to a bit of a late start this spring after visa issues delayed his arrival at camp, and he has logged only seven at-bats overall due to that issue and the subsequent groin injury. However, it appears that the 28-year-old is about ready to return to action, which should give him enough time to shake off any rust by Opening Day, assuming he has no further setbacks.

Arrives at spring training
Profar arrived at spring training Saturday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact
Profar had a delayed arrival this spring due to visa issues, but he is now in the country and has undergone intake testing. The team hopes that he'll be able to participate in practice Sunday. The 28-year-old should have enough time to prepare for the regular season, and he's among the options to serve as the backup center fielder ahead of Opening Day.

Could see time in center field
Profar (not injury related) is among a group of Padres who are options to serve as the club's backup center fielder, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Profar enjoyed a fine season at the plate in 2020, but he doesn't have a clear role in 2021 among a crowded San Diego roster. He has played in center only once in his big-league career, but Profar's defensive versatility could result in ample playing time, and he would likely be an everyday outfielder if the National League brings back the DH.
