Stays in organization
The Nationals outrighted Yepez to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.
Impact
While no longer on the 40-man roster, Yepez will remain in the Nationals organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 27-year-old has slashed only .199/.273/.301 at Rochester in 2025.

Brady House gets called up by the Nationals. He was the 11th overall pick in the 2021 draft

Pushed off 40-man roster
The Nationals designated Yepez for assignment Monday.
Impact
Yepez will be moved off the Nationals' 40-man roster to clear a spot for infielder Brady House, who was promoted from Triple-A Rochester on Monday. After failing to win a spot on Washington's Opening Day roster coming out of spring training, Yepez has spent the entire season with Rochester and has hit .199/.273/.301 with three home runs in 172 plate appearances. Given his struggles at Triple-A and limited defensive flexibility, the 27-year-old Yepez is likely to clear waivers.

ROTOWIRE
Relegated to minors
The Nationals optioned Yepez to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.
Impact
Yepez managed just a .559 OPS through 48 plate appearances in the Grapefruit League, which is enough of a drop from his performance in the majors last year (.764 OPS) to have him sent back to Triple-A. He should receive regular playing time while in Rochester and may be a candidate to serve as bench depth in Washington if his bat gets hot.

ROTOWIRE
Ticketed for Triple-A
The Nationals are expected to option Yepez to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Impact
After producing a .764 OPS in 249 plate appearances with Washington in 2024, Yepez appeared to be in good position to make the Nationals' Opening Day roster entering camp, but he wasn't able to win a spot after slashing .244/.292/.267 over 48 plate appearances in Grapefruit League play. The 27-year-old should be in line for an everyday role with Rochester while likely making starts at first base, designated hitter and in left field.

ROTOWIRE
Focusing on third base this spring
Yepez has been working out mostly at third base early on in spring training, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.
Impact
Yepez played third base a lot in the minors and made three starts there with the Cardinals back in 2022, but that was the last time he saw any action at the position in a game setting. Third base is the only position for the Nationals that doesn't currently appear to have a starter locked in, so it's worth tracking this spring to see if Yepez continues seeing reps there. That said, it's a long shot that he'll be entrusted as a regular at the hot corner, given his defensive limitations.

Not in Wednesday's lineup
Yepez is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact
Andres Chaparro is away on paternity leave, but it will be Luis Garcia getting another start at designated hitter. Yepez had started seven of the previous eight contests, although he's seen his playing time drop in September on the whole.

ROTOWIRE
Sitting against another righty
Yepez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Impact
It's the second straight game and third time in four contests that Yepez is on the bench, with his only start during that stretch coming against a left-handed starter. Joey Gallo is starting at first base while Andres Chaparro serves as the designated hitter Wednesday against Miami righty Valente Bellozo, as it appears Yepez has fallen into the short side of a platoon, at least for the time being.

Goes deep in loss
Yepez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Yankees.
Impact
Yepez took Nestor Cortes deep in the seventh inning for this fifth homer of the campaign. Yepez has now hit two home runs in his last four games, after getting three in his previous 39 games this season. The 26-year-old has found regular playing time with the Nationals since being called up in the beginning of July, and he's slashing .284/.331/.451 thus far.

Yepez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Breaks slump with blast
Yepez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Thursday against the Rockies.
Impact
Yepez's eighth-inning blast drove in three and put the game on ice for the Nationals. It was the fourth homer of the season for Yepez, who broke a 2-for-29 spell when he sent the Peter Lambert sweeper over the centerfield fence. Yepez now holds a .278 average with 16 extra-base hits, 20 RBI, 20 runs and two steals across 151 at-bats.

Sitting amid rough patch
Yepez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
Impact
Yepez will head to the bench for the second time in three games while he's gone just 2-for-26 at the dish over his last eight contests, bringing his slash line down to .279/.331/.422 over 163 plate appearances since getting a call-up to Washington on July 4. His recent struggles could cost him a regular spot in the lineup against right-handed pitching, as Joey Gallo looms as a potential alternative following his return from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Gallo will fill in for Yepez at first base in Wednesday's contest.

Yepez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Philadelphia, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.
Impact
Yepez is mired in a 2-for-22 slump over the past six games and will head to the bench Sunday after making 37 straight starts. Travis Blankenhorn will bat eighth as the designated hitter in the series finale versus the Phillies.

ROTOWIRE
Productive in Wednesday's loss
Yepez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen bases in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Giants.
Impact
The first baseman took Blake Snell deep in the third inning, briefly giving the Nationals a 3-2 lead that quickly evaporated. Yepez hasn't gone consecutive games without a hit since being added to the Nationals' roster in early July, and in 117 plate appearances over that stretch he's slashing .330/.380/.523 with 12 doubles, three homers, two steals, 16 RBI and 17 runs.

Knocks three hits
Yepez went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's extra-innings win over St. Louis.
Impact
Yepez scored runs in the second and fourth innings before knocking an RBI double in the fifth. He also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the seventh and force the game to extras. Yepez had a 15-game hitting streak to begin his Nationals career before going 0-for-3 on Thursday. After his three-hit night Friday, he's now slashing .375/.423/.609 with 11 extra-base hits through 71 plate appearances.

Homers in blowout loss
Yepez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 12-3 loss to the Padres.
Impact
Yepez helped the Nationals to a hot start with his first-inning blast, but it was all Padres after that. The 26-year-old is still yet to be held hitless in his Washington career, and his power has come around with two homers and two doubles over five games since the All-Star break. He's batting .368 with two homers, eight RBI, 10 runs scored, one stolen base and eight doubles over 15 contests in the majors this year.

Two more hits, first homer
Yepez went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and a second run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over Cincinnati.
Impact
Yepez took Frankie Montas deep in the third inning, driving a two-strike pitch over the left-field fence to extend Washington's lead to 7-1. It's the first homer of the year for Yepez, though he's swung the bat well since he was called up on July 5 -- the outfielder has at least one hit in all 11 games he's appeared in. Overall, Yepez is slashing an eye-popping .390/.468/.610 with six RBI and eight runs scored across 47 plate appearances as he continues to make a case for an everyday role.
