Optioned to Triple-A The Guardians optioned Brito to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.
Impact Brito didn't do much during his first stint in the majors, slashing .176/.250/.255 with a 30.4 percent strikeout rate. He's exiting the roster to clear space for the arrival of Travis Bazzana, who will take over as Cleveland's starting second baseman.

Expected to be optioned The Guardians plan to option Brito to Triple-A Columbus, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Impact The Guardians plan to promote top prospect Travis Bazzana on Tuesday and are expected to clear a roster spot by optioning Brito, who had rocky first taste of MLB. After being called up to replace Gabriel Arias (hamstring) earlier this month, he slashed .176/.250/.255 over 15 games along with some defensive miscues. Bazzana is expected to become the team's primary second baseman and could remain there when Gabriel Arias (hamstring) is ready to return.

Fading into part-time role Brito is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.
Impact After making six consecutive starts following his call-up from Triple-A Columbus on April 7, Brito has now been included in the lineup in eight of the Guardians' ensuing 13 contests. Brito -- who has mustered a lowly .505 OPS over his first 56 plate appearances in the big leagues -- looks like he may have to settle for a part-time role in the middle infield even while the Guardians remain without Gabriel Arias (hamstring).

Misplay leads to runs Brito started at second base and 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Blue Jays.
Impact Brito doubled and scored in the third inning and walked as part of a ninth-inning rally that fell short. In between, he misplayed a grounder (not ruled an error) that led to three runs in the sixth inning. Brito's made three errors and has a minus-1 run value and outs above average since being called up to the majors April 7. The Guardians have been working hard on his defense, per Tim Stebbins of MLB.com and are focused on working with him to improve his defense. The 24-year-old has some runway at second base while Gabriel Arias (hamstring) is on the 10-day injured list; the Guardians' only other big-league options are Daniel Schneemann and Angel Martinez. However, manager Stephen Vogt values Schneemann's versatility and likes Martinez in the outfield.

Early struggles shouldn't diminish hype around Guardians' top prospect Just because Juan Brito's struggled at the start of his Guardians career doesn't mean he won't be a successful big leaguer.

Playing time slipping Brito is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Astros.
Impact Brito's playing time has slipped a bit, as this is the third time he's been absent from the lineup over the last eight games. He's just 1-for-19 with a 1:8 BB:K over that span. Daniel Schneemann will play second base and hit sixth for the Guardians.

Snaps slide Brito went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Orioles.
Impact Brito contributed a two-run double to the Guardians' four-run fourth inning. The hit snapped an 0-for-13 slide and his first extra-base hit and RBI since April 8. He's getting regular playing time while Gabriel Arias (hamstring) in on the injured list, but a slash line of .184/.244/263 leaves Brito vulnerable. Daniel Schneemann (.890 OPS) lurks on the 26-man roster, and elite prospect Travis Bazzana is heating up -- .414/.485/.759 in last seven games -- at Triple-A Columbus after a slow start. Brito's also made three errors since arriving in Cleveland, which could prompt a move to replace him.

Slipping after strong start Brito went 0-for-3 with a walk in Thursday's 4-2 win over Baltimore.
Impact Brito swung a hot stick upon his call-up from Triple-A Columbus in the wake of Gabriel Arias' hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined until mid-May at the earliest. After going 5-for-12 with a pair of doubles in his first three games, Brito's moved in the other direction; he's gone 1-for-18 with two walks and eight strikeouts over his last six contests.

Making third straight start Brito will start at second base and bat sixth in Friday's game versus Atlanta.
Impact The switch-hitting Brito started each of the first two games against lefties upon his promotion, and he will remain in the lineup as Atlanta sends righty Bryce Elder to the bump. Brito is 4-for-8 with a pair of doubles in the early going and could continue to see regular playing time at second base while Brayan Rocchio shifts over to shortstop to cover for the injured Gabriel Arias (hamstring).

Two more hits Brito started at second base and went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Royals.
Impact Brito made a second straight start at second base and logged two hits in each contest. He's getting a chance with Gabriel Arias (hamstring) hitting the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Brayan Rocchio, who moved from second to cover shortstop for Arias, is hitting just .216 over 13 games. If Brito maintains the hot bat, he could replace Rocchio as starter when Arias returns.

Logs two hits in MLB debut Brito started at second base and went 2-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Royals.
Impact Brito had a whirlwind 24 hours. He was in Worcester (Mass.) with Triple-A Columbus on Monday when the Guardians called him up to replace shortstop Gabriel Arias (hamstring), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 24-year-old infield prospect hopped an early flight Tuesday morning to Cleveland and made his MLB debut that night. With Arias out of action, Brayan Rocchio moved from second base to short, which opens a position for the switch-hitting Brito, who is poised to assume the strongside of a platoon along with Daniel Schneemann.
