Impact Urquidy surrendered home runs to Seth Brown and Tony Kemp, totaling five long balls in his last three starts. The 26-year-old finished the season with a 3.62 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 90 punchouts in 107 innings. He will be a key pitcher in Houston's postseason run.

Settles for no-decision Urquidy did not factor in the decision against Tampa Bay on Tuesday, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six.
Impact Urquidy was stung by a first-inning two-run home run off the bat of Yandy Diaz, but the right-hander didn't give up any additional runs in the start. He was outdueled by Michael Wacha, who did not allow a hit in his five frames, but Urquidy was ultimately taken off the hook when Houston came alive in the second half of the contest. Urquidy has pitched relatively well in September, posting a 4.18 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB across 23.2 innings. His next appearance could come in the postseason, though it's unclear if he'll be used as a starter or a reliever.

Picks up win despite mediocre start Urquidy (8-3) allowed four earned runs on six hits while striking out three across 5.1 innings, getting the win over the Angels on Tuesday.
Impact Urquidy surrendered home runs to Jack Mayfield and Phil Gosselin that accounted for all four runs allowed. However, the Astros provided enough run support to keep Urquidy in line for the win. He hasn't lost since June 15. The 26-year-old has a 3.56 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with 81 punchouts in 96 innings this season.

Rolls past Rangers Urquidy (7-3) earned the win Wednesday against Texas, allowing one run on two hits and a walk with six strikeouts over six innings.
Impact A run-scoring groundout by Yonny Hernandez in the third inning was the lone blemish on the day for Urquidy, who put together a quality start after going just a combined 8.2 innings over his three previous outings. The 26-year-old has lost just once since the start of May and now owns a 3.38 ERA and 78:17 K:BB in 90.2 innings overall this season. He's scheduled to face the Angels on the road in his next start.

Labors through short start Urquidy allowed two runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in three innings versus Seattle on Wednesday. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact The right-hander needed 70 pitches (42 strikes) to get through the short appearance. Urquidy is still building up after a two-month absence due to a shoulder injury, but he wasn't very efficient Wednesday. He has a 3.51 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 72:16 K:BB across 84.2 innings this year. It's unclear if he'll be able to throw more in his next scheduled start, tentatively set for a road game versus Texas next week.

Can't reach five innings in return Urquidy got a no-decision in Friday's 6-3 win over the Padres, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 4.1 innings.
Impact Making his first start since June 29 due to a shoulder injury, Urquidy limited San Diego just enough for Houston to come out on top, permitting one run on two hits in both the third and fifth innings. Manager Dusty Baker let the 29-year-old throw a respectable 71 pitches in four plus innings which bodes well for his next start scheduled for Friday versus the Angels.

Impact The 26-year-old will start in place of Zack Greinke (undisclosed) in Friday's series opener against the Padres. Urquidy has been sidelined since late June due to right shoulder inflammation, but he recently made three rehab appearances and posted a 1.50 ERA and 0.50 WHIP in 12 innings.

Set to return this weekend Manager Dusty Baker said that Urquidy will be activated to start in place of Zack Greinke (undisclosed) during the upcoming weekend series in San Diego, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com...
Impact Urquidy was already trending toward being activated for a start during the series with the Friars, and now the skipper has confirmed that he'll take the ball at some point over the weekend with Greinke moving to the COVID-19 IL. Urquidy has been out since late June with right shoulder discomfort, but he pitched well prior to the injury, posting a 3.38 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 66:13 K:BB across 77.1 innings.

AUGUST 31, 2021 • Associated Press
Could return this weekend Manager Dusty Baker said Urquidy (shoulder) could be activated from the injured list during this weekend's series in San Diego, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact A right shoulder injury has sidelined the 26-year-old since the end of June, but he finally appears close to rejoining the rotation. It's unclear whether Urquidy will replace Jake Odorizzi in the starting mix or if Houston will run a six-man rotation for the remainder of the regular season. With a 3.38 ERA and 0.96 WHIP this year, albeit in only 77.1 innings, Urquidy figures to play a considerable role on the Astros' pitching staff in September and the postseason.

Rehab assignment continues Urquidy (shoulder) will make another rehab start for Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Urquidy has been out for just shy of two months with shoulder issues. He's made a pair of rehab appearances already and stretched out to four innings Tuesday, so it's possible his Sunday start will be his final one before he's activated. If that's the case, he could return to action during next weekend's series in San Diego.
