INJURIES

Making rehab appearance Wednesday Quintana (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Hartford on Wednesday, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.
Impact Out since late May with a sprained left elbow, Quintana began his throwing program in early July and has finally reached the final stage in his rehab. The Rockies -- already eliminated from postseason contention -- likely won't be in much of a hurry to bring the veteran southpaw back, but he could still return in time to make another start or two before the end of the season.
9 HOURS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Nearing rehab assignment Quintana (elbow) is in line to begin a rehab assignment next week, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.
Impact Quintana has been steadily building up his pitch count in bullpen sessions since early August as he progresses in his recovery from a left elbow sprain that landed him on the injured list in late May. It's been a lengthy rehab for the veteran southpaw, so even if he's cleared to embark on a rehab assignment, it's unclear whether he'll see major-league action before the conclusion of the regular season.
4 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Set for sim game Quintana (elbow) will throw two simulated innings at Colorado's complex in Arizona on Saturday, MLB.com reports.
Impact Quintana threw a 45-pitch bullpen session in mid-August and has been ramping up activity. While he seems to be making clear progress, it's unclear whether he'll be able to return to the mound before the season ends.
AUGUST 29 • ROTOWIRE
Up to 45 pitches Quintana (elbow) threw 45 pitches in a bullpen session Tuesday, MLB.com reports.
Impact Quintana has been building up his workload, with Tuesday's session being his most extensive since being sidelined. He's expected to throw live batting practice Aug. 22, with the goal of reaching 60 pitches.
AUGUST 19 • ROTOWIRE
Set for another bullpen session Quintana (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.
Impact Quintana most recently tossed a 23-pitch bullpen session Sunday that consisted of all fastballs and changeups, so he'll be looking to build up his volume Wednesday and/or making use of his full repertoire. The veteran southpaw -- who has been on the shelf since May 25 due to an elbow sprain -- could soon be cleared to face hitters and appears to be tracking toward a return to the Rockies' active roster in late August or early September.
AUGUST 12 • ROTOWIRE
Nearing bullpen session Quintana (elbow) is set to throw a bullpen session during the week of Aug. 3, MLB.com reports.
Impact Quintana is set to throw long toss Saturday, and he'll end the session with eight throws off the mound. That will lead into his first bullpen session since initially being sidelined with a sprained elbow.
AUGUST 1 • ROTOWIRE
Set to play catch Quintana (elbow) is scheduled to play catch Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact The veteran left-hander has been building up his arm strength by throwing weighted balls, clearing the way for him to play catch for the first time since suffering an elbow sprain in late May. Quintana will be eligible to be reinstated from the injured list in late July, but he'll likely need more time to ramp himself up to MLB readiness.

Moves to 60-day IL The Rockies transferred Quintana (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact Quintana landed on the 15-day IL on Monday with a sprained left elbow. MRI results determined that the southpaw's injury isn't severe enough to require surgery, but he is still set to remain sidelined until at least July 24 now that he's on the 60-day list. His 40-man roster spot will be given to Jeff Criswell (elbow), who returned from the injured list Thursday and was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.
MAY 28 • ROTOWIRE
Lands on IL with sprained elbow The Rockies placed Quintana on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left elbow sprain.
Impact Quintana exited Sunday's start against the Diamondbacks in the second inning with a sore elbow, and an MRI has revealed ligament damage. It's unclear at this point whether the veteran hurler will need surgery or attempt to rest and rehab the injury, but even if it's the latter he's likely looking at an extended absence. Quintana has been limited to nine starts this season because of hamstring and now elbow problems, and he's collected an unsightly 5.27 ERA and 20:17 K:BB over 41 innings.

Heading back to Denver for MRI Quintana will head back to Denver for an MRI on his left elbow, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact Quintana exited Sunday's start against the Diamondbacks in the second inning with left elbow discomfort, and he will now head back home instead of continuing the road trip with the Rockies. The southpaw could be set for an extended absence, depending on the results of his MRI.

Injury deemed left elbow discomfort Quintana, who was removed in the second inning of his start Sunday versus Arizona, is dealing with left elbow discomfort, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact Quintana was pounded for six earned runs on six hits Sunday while retiring only four batters before departing. It's not clear at this point how severe the elbow issue is or if he's going to miss any starts. Quintana will presumably go through testing to pinpoint the exact nature of his injury.
MAY 24 • ROTOWIRE
Exits start with injury Quintana was lifted in the second inning of his start Sunday against the Diamondbacks due to an apparent injury, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.
Impact Quintana was charged with six earned runs on six hits before departing with one out in the bottom of the second after he was visited on the mound by a team trainer. The nature of Quintana's injury isn't clear, but the Rockies should have more details on his situation later Sunday once he's evaluated further. The Rockies will likely lean on a number of relievers to finish out Sunday's contest after Quintana's abbreviated start.
MAY 24 • ROTOWIRE
Nabs second victory Quintana (2-2) earned the win over Texas on Monday, completing 5.2 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four batters.
Impact Quintana got plenty of early run support and entered the fifth inning with a 6-1 lead. He faded a bit near the end of his outing, giving up a run in each of the fifth and sixth frames, but still managed to emerge with the victory. Quintana's four-game streak of allowing two or fewer earned runs came to an end, but he had picked up just one win during that stretch. The veteran lefty has been an unspectacular but useful addition to Colorado's rotation this season, posting a 4.08 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 20:17 K:BB over 39.2 innings spanning eight starts.

Impact Quintana was pulled after throwing 73 pitches over four innings, though the left-hander has now held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in each of his last four outings. Through seven starts (34 innings), Quintana is 1-2 with a 3.97 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 16:16 K:BB. The left-hander is currently lined for a home matchup with the Rangers his next time out.

Another solid outing Quintana did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Mets, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out two.
Impact The Mets scratched across a pair of runs against Quintana in the second inning, but the left-hander would hold them there in an eventual 6-2 Rockies victory. Quintana has given up just four runs over 16 innings in his last three starts after struggling to a 6.23 ERA in his first three outings this year. Quintana will carry a 3.90 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP and 14:13 K:BB into his next start, currently scheduled to come on the road against the Pirates.
MAY 7 • ROTOWIRE
Quality start in no-decision Quintana didn't factor into the decision Friday against Atlanta, tossing six innings of one-run ball while allowing five hits and striking out three.
Impact Quintana was coming off his best start of the season, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings against the Mets on April 26, and he rode the momentum to record his first quality start of the season in this matchup. Quintana endured significant struggles in the early stages of the campaign and posted a 6.23 ERA and a 4:9 K:BB through 13 innings in his first three outings, but he's bounced back with a 1.59 ERA and an 8:2 K:BB in 11.1 frames in his past two. He's scheduled to make his next start at home against the Mets next week.
