INJURIES

Lasts six innings in no-decision Lopez allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five in six innings in Sunday's loss to the Rays. He didn't factor into the decision.
Impact Lopez got plenty of run support from the Orioles in Sunday's matchup and appeared to be heading toward his second straight win, but he was forced to settle for the no-decision after Baltimore's bullpen gave up seven runs across the seventh and eighth innings. The right-hander posted a 7.94 ERA and 2.03 WHIP in 11.1 innings during his first three starts after the All-Star break, but he's allowed just three runs in 12 innings across his last two outings. Lopez tentatively lines up to start on the road against Boston on Saturday.

Effective in win Monday Lopez (3-12) allowed a run on one hit and five walks while striking out four in six innings, earning the win over the Yankees on Monday.
Impact While the five walks were a season high for the right-hander, he was mostly able to contain his inefficiency. Monday was just the fourth time in 22 starts Lopez completed six innings. He has a 5.91 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 94:48 K:BB through 102 innings in what's been another difficult season for the 28-year-old. Lopez projects to make his next start versus Tampa Bay this weekend in a tough matchup.

Struggles in short start Lopez allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two in two innings in a no-decision versus Miami on Wednesday.
Impact Lopez had particular trouble against Jesus Aguilar, who hit an RBI double and a two-run home run against him in consecutive innings. Luckily for the right-hander, Baltimore rallied from behind in the third inning to tie the game, getting him off the hook. Lopez still has an unsightly 6.19 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 90:43 K:BB through 96 innings across 21 starts. He projects for a road start versus the Yankees next week.

Allows one run in no-decision Lopez allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out three in 4.2 innings in Friday's win over the Nationals. He didn't factor into the decision.
Impact Lopez had some issues with command and only threw 45 of his 82 pitches for strikes, but he was able to limit Washington's run production. However, he fell just short of qualifying for the win since he was removed from the game with two outs in the fourth inning. The right-hander had been charged with six consecutive losses leading up to the All-Star break, but he's now settled for no-decisions in each of his last two outings. Lopez tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Detroit on Thursday.

Takes no-decision Saturday Lopez allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk across 4.2 innings of a no-decision Saturday against the Royals. He had four strikeouts.
Impact Lopez took an 8-1 lead into the fifth running when he finally ran into trouble, giving up three hits, a sacrifice fly, a walk and a wild pitch before giving way to the bullpen with two outs. Lopez, who is winless in his last seven starts (0-6), owns a 6.04 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 89.1 innings this season and opponents are hitting .299 off him. The 28-year-old is scheduled to face the Nationals at home next week.

Starting Saturday Lopez (bereavement) will start Saturday's game in Kansas City, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
Impact Having gone on the bereavement list during the All-Star break, Lopez will not end up missing a start. The righty got hit hard last time out, but only yielded one walk and two runs in the July 9 start, so he'll look to continue improving his command in his first second-half start.
JULY 17, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Placed on bereavement list Lopez was placed on the bereavement list Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Lopez will be sidelined for a minimum of three games following his placement on the bereavement list, and the Orioles haven't yet announced when he could return. He's posted a 6.75 ERA and 2.04 WHIP in 24 innings across his last five appearances.
JULY 14, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Pinned with 12th loss Lopez (2-12) allowed two runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts in four innings Friday, taking the loss in a 12-1 defeat against the White Sox.
Impact The righty now has a stunning nine losses in his last 10 decisions. Lopez did fairly well in limiting the White Sox to a pair of runs, but he required 87 pitches to complete the four frames before turning things over to the Orioles' bullpen, which proceeded to give up 10 runs. He's lasted six innings on just three occasions this season, so his likelihood of tallying a quality start and earning a win are similarly low in a given outing. Lopez also strikes out less than a batter per inning -- combined with the other factors, that makes him an entirely unappealing fantasy option after the All-Star break.
JULY 10, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles again in loss Lopez (2-11) allowed four earned runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four across 4.2 innings, taking the loss to the Angels on Saturday.
Impact Lopez lost his fifth game in a row Saturday after allowing at least four runs for the fourth time in his last five starts. He has struggled with his control, walking four batters in each of his last two starts. The 28-year-old has a rough 6.02 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP overall with 77 punchouts in 80.2 innings.
JULY 4, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Hit hard in loss Lopez (2-10) allowed five runs on 10 hits and four walks while striking out two in 4.2 innings to take the loss against the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Impact Lopez allowed a season-high 14 baserunners in Sunday's outing, and he's now been charged with losses in each of his last four starts. During his current four-start skid, he's posted a 7.65 ERA and 1.90 WHIP in 20 innings. The right-hander tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against the Angels on Saturday.
JUNE 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Takes ninth loss Lopez (2-9) took the loss versus Houston on Tuesday. He allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six in 6.1 innings.
Impact Tuesday was just the third time this year Lopez has completed six innings. The right-hander gave up a solo home run to Myles Straw, who also had an RBI single against reliever Hunter Harvey to tack a second and decisive run onto Lopez's line. Through 15 starts, the 28-year-old has a 5.68 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 71:29 K:BB across 71.1 innings. His next start is expected to be versus Toronto this weekend.
JUNE 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Hit hard again Lopez (2-8) allowed five earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three across 4.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against Cleveland.
Impact Lopez was tagged for three home runs, two of which came in the opening inning. After maintaining a 3.68 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 20 strikeouts in 22 innings during four-start stretch from May 21 to June 6, Lopez has surrendered 10 earned runs in nine innings of work across his last two outings. Overall, Lopez now has a poor 5.95 ERA paired with a 65:27 K:BB across 65 frames.
JUNE 18, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Suffers seventh loss Lopez (2-7) took the loss against Tampa Bay on Saturday, completing 4.2 innings and allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out eight.
Impact Lopez tied a season high with eight strikeouts, but he otherwise posted his worst outing since a two-inning start May 15. The right-hander entered the contest with four straight appearances of at least five innings and three or fewer runs, but both streaks came to an end in the loss. Lopez's ERA jumped to 5.64, and his seven losses are tied for third-worst in the league. Lopez will try to get back into the win column in his next scheduled start, which is tentatively projected to take place at Cleveland on Thursday.

Impact Lopez earned his first win since April 16 in Sunday's matchup, and he's now lasted at least five innings in each of his last four starts. The righty has now posted a 5.30 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 56 innings across 12 starts to begin the season. He tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Churns out quality start Monday Lopez worked six innings while taking a no-decision Monday in the Orioles' 3-2 loss to the Twins in 10 innings. He gave up one run on five hits and two walks while striking out sev...
Impact Facing off against Minnesota for the second start in a row, Lopez came away with another quality start, but he was far more sharper this time around than he was on May 26. After issuing four walks against three strikeouts in the prior outing, Lopez pumped in two thirds of his pitches for strikes Monday while yielding only one extra-base hit (a double to Josh Donaldson). Despite the better results of late, Lopez still maintains a poor 5.29 ERA for the season, and he hasn't captured a win since April 16.
MAY 31, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Walks four in quality start Lopez (1-6) took the loss Wednesday at Minnesota after allowing three runs on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts across six innings.
Impact The 28-year-old kept the Twins off the board through five frames, but he gave up a single and a walk before surrendering a two-out, three-run homer to Miguel Sano during the sixth inning. It's the third straight loss for Lopez, whose lone win of the season came April 16 at Texas. The right-hander has a 5.80 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 45:20 K:BB over 45 innings this season.
MAY 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Fans eight in loss Lopez (1-5) gave up two earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out eight in five innings Friday against the Nationals. He took the loss.
Impact This was one of Lopez's best starts of the year, and it lowered his ERA from 6.35 to 6.00. This should buy him at least one more start next week, most likely in Minnesota on Wednesday.
MAY 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Chased early Saturday Lopez (1-4) took the loss Saturday, coughing up five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks over two innings as the Orioles were downed 8-2 by the Yankees. He struck out four...
Impact Four of the first five Yankee hitters reached base in the first inning before Lopez served up an Aaron Judge blast in the second. The right-hander tossed 46 of 71 pitches for strikes in his shortest outing of the year, and despite a strong 34:13 K:BB through 34 innings he'll carry a 6.35 ERA into his next start thanks to a brutal 26.7 percent HR/FB rate.

Myriad O's Thoughts: Jorge Lopez's outing, Zach Pop's ascent, Adley Rutschman's other position Right-hander Jorge Lopez needed 71 pitches to get through two innings in a rough start for the Orioles against the New York Yankees.
