Picks up 11th save
Romano picked up the save Friday against the Twins. He allowed one hit over a scoreless inning. He did not strike out or walk a batter.
Impact
This outing was a welcome sight for fantasy managers, as Romano has been inconsistent at best this month. The right-hander has two blown saves and a loss in May, but is still tied for fourth in the league with 11 saves.

Blows third save
Romano blew the save in Saturday's 6-5 loss to Baltimore, allowing one run on three hits and zero walks while striking out one over one inning.
Impact
Romano entered in the eighth inning with two runners on and a three-run lead. He proceeded to surrender a three-run home run to the first batter he faced -- Ryan O'Hearn -- but stayed in the game and recorded three outs before getting pulled in the ninth with a runner on first. Romano is now 10 for 13 in save chances this year and boasts a 3.32 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 24:6 K:BB over 20 appearances (19 innings). Despite the poor outing, Romano remains locked in as Toronto's go-to closer.

Collects extra-inning win
Romano (3-2) picked up the win in Wednesday's 3-0 extra-inning victory over the Yankees, walking one and striking out two in two scoreless innings.
Impact
It's only the second time this season in 19 appearances the right-hander has been asked to work more than one inning, but Romano has little trouble dispatching New York in the ninth and 10th, with his walk being of the intentional variety against Aaron Judge. Romano sports a 3.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB through 18 innings and has converted 10 of 12 save chances.

Nails down 10th save
Romano struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his 10th save of the season in a 5-2 win over Atlanta.
Impact
The right-hander's numbers are down a bit from prior seasons, but Romano has still allowed runs in only four of his 18 appearances, posting a 3.38 ERA and 1.19 WHIP through 16 innings, and his 30.9 percent strikeout rate and 7.4 percent walk rate remain excellent. His luck figures to turn for the better over the summer -- Romano's .325 BABIP and 75.3 percent LOB rate would both be his worst marks since his rookie season in 2019.

Blows second save
Romano blew the save in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Phillies, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out one over one inning.
Impact
Romano squandered Kevin Gausman's stellar start by allowing hits to three of the first four batters in the ninth, including a game-tying, RBI double to J.T. Realmuto. Romano is now 9-for-11 in save chances this season and sports a 3.60 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB over 17 appearances (15 innings). Despite the blown save, Romano's role as Toronto's primary closer shouldn't be in jeopardy.

Collects rare hold
Romano struck out one in two-thirds of an inning without giving up a run or a baserunner to record his first hold of the season in Sunday's win over the Pirates.
Impact
The right-hander entered the game in the eighth inning to protect a 5-1 lead with the bases loaded and out one, and Romano needed only eight pitches to fan Jack Suwinski and induce a popup from Miguel Andujar. When the Jays tacked on five more runs in the top of the ninth, Romano was no longer needed for a save and settled for a hold instead, with Nate Pearson finishing out the rout. On the season, Romano has a 3.21 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 18:4 K:BB through 14 innings and has successfully converted nine of his 10 save chances.

Notches ninth save
Romano struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his ninth save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Mariners.
Impact
He fired 11 of 14 pitches for strikes to move into a tie for the league lead in saves with Josh Hader and Emmanuel Clase. Romano has been scored upon only twice in 12 appearances to begin the season, and as the season progresses, his 3.18 ERA and 1.24 WHIP figure to continue coming down to something closer to the 2.13 and 1.03 marks he's posted over the last two years since taking over ninth-inning duties for Toronto.

Picks up eighth save
Romano picked up the save in Monday's 5-2 victory over the White Sox, tossing a perfect ninth inning with zero strikeouts.
Impact
Romano entered with a two-run lead in the ninth and retired Oscar Colas, Elvis Andrus and Lenyn Sosa in order. The right-handed closer is now eight for nine in save chances and holds a 3.48 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP with 12 strikeouts through 10.1 innings.

Takes loss against Yankees
Romano (2-1) took the loss Saturday against the Yankees by allowed one run on three hits and one walk without recording an out.
Impact
Romano allowed a double to Anthony Rizzo to begin the bottom of the ninth, and after an infield single by Gleyber Torres and a walk to Willie Calhoun, the right-hander gave up a walkoff single to DJ LeMehahieu to end the game. The run was the first that Romano had given up since his blown save against the Angels on April 9, but the right-hander has not looked as dominant to begin 2023 as he was over the previous two seasons with the Blue Jays. It's far too early to panic over mixed results at this point.

Nails down seventh save
Romano gave up a hit and struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings Tuesday to record his seventh save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Astros.
Impact
After getting a scare Saturday when he took a comebacker off the ribs, Romano didn't seem hampered at all on the mound Tuesday, firing 14 of his 15 pitches for strikes and popping 98.3 mph with his fastball. The right-hander leads the majors in saves, two ahead of Felix Bautista, David Bednar and Emmanuel Clase, and Romano's 12:3 K:BB through 9.1 innings is equally elite.

X-rays negative after save
Romano was diagnosed with a right rib contusion after picking up a save Saturday against the Rays, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports. He allowed three hits and struck out two...
Impact
X-rays returned negative. The right-hander was struck in the rib during Saturday's appearance against Tampa Bay on a liner off the bat from Wander Franco, and while he was able to make the play he looked to be in significant pain after making the throw over to first base. The good news is there's no structural damage but there is a good chance that Romano may need to sit out a game or two while recovering from the rib bruise.

Gets fifth save
Romano struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday against the Rays to pick up the save.
Impact
This was Romano's fifth save of the campaign, and he has either logged a save or a win in all seven of his appearances. He gave up three earned runs in one outing, but for the most part Romano has appeared to be in complete control of the ninth-inning role in Toronto.

Collects extra-inning win
Romano (2-0) picked up the win Wednesday, walking one in a scoreless 10th inning during a victory over the Tigers.
Impact
The closer needed 18 pitches (12 strikes) to keep the game tied at 3-3 in the top of the 10th, before the Blue Jays walked it off in the bottom of the frame. Romano has four saves in addition to his two wins, recording one or the other in each of his first six appearances, with a 7:3 K:BB through six innings.

Nabs win after blown save
Romano (1-0) earned the win and was charged with a blown save Sunday against the Angels. He gave up three runs on two hits with three strikeouts and two walks across one inning.
Impact
The right-hander allowed just one baserunner in his first four outings of the season, but he struggled with his command Sunday and was unable to maintain a three-run advantage. Romano picked up the win since the Blue Jays went ahead for good in the 10th inning, so fantasy managers were able to get something out of the rough performance. The 29-year-old has converted four of five save chances and has a 5.40 ERA and 7:2 K:BB across his first five frames of 2023.

Picks up fourth save
Romano picked up the save Friday against the Angels without allowing a run or a hit.
Impact
While Romano didn't issue a strikeout, that's mostly because the Angels were aggressive and forced the right-hander to throw just six pitches -- five of those for strikes. He is now up to four saves on the young year, and he hasn't allowed an earned run in any of his appearances.

Grabs another save
Romano earned a save against the Royals on Wednesday with one scoreless inning. He allowed one hit and struck out one batter.
Impact
Alek Manoah gave Toronto seven scoreless innings, and Eric Swanson put up another zero in the eighth. The Blue Jays then turned to Romano, who completed the combined shutout and picked up his third save of the campaign with a scoreless frame. The closer is tied with David Bednar for the MLB lead in saves, and he's allowed just one hit while posting a 4:0 K:BB over three innings so far this season.
