INJURIES

Sent down Saturday Aranda was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Aranda was called up by the Rays on July 10 and went 4-for-13 with a double, a run, an RBI and three strikeouts over five games during his stint with the major-league club. However, he'll head back to the minors after Brandon Lowe (back) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Saturday. Aranda is expected to get playing time in the outfield in addition to his infield work with the Triple-A club.
JULY 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Tallies pair of hits Aranda went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Monday against the Red Sox.
Impact Aranda drew his first start since being recalled Sunday, and he played second base while hitting fourth. The Rays have a lot of positional flexibility along their infield, but Aranda should be able to find regular playing time between second base and shortstop in the short term with both Wander Franco (wrist) and Brandon Lowe (back) sidelined. Once Lowe is activated -- which could come as early as Friday -- Aranda will vie for playing time at shortstop with Yu Chang and Taylor Walls. Aranda is a well-regarded prospect, and he tallied the second RBI of his career with a base knock in the fifth inning Monday.

Up with big-league club Aranda was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Impact The 24-year-old was added to the major-league roster Sunday with Wander Franco (wrist) heading to the 10-day injured list. Aranda will provide infield depth for Tampa Bay and could split playing time at second base with Yu Chang while Taylor Walls fills in at shortstop for Franco.
JULY 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Headed back to Tampa Aranda will be recalled by the Rays on Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact The Rays are in need of infield depth with Wander Franco (wrist) expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks. Aranda was in the majors for a very brief stretch in late June, though he should have a better chance to stick this time around. A well-regarded prospect, Aranda has maintained a .330/.403/.546 line with 13 home runs and four stolen bases across 325 plate appearances with Triple-A Durham this season.
JULY 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Returned to minors Tampa Bay optioned Aranda to Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Impact The 24-year-old's first stint in the big leagues lasted only five days, and Aranda appeared in two games over that stretch, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Though Aranda doesn't have much left to prove in the minors, the Rays want him to play on an everyday basis, and that opportunity won't be afforded to him in Tampa Bay after shortstop Wander Franco (quadriceps) was cleared to return from the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Rays report: Jonathan Aranda set for debut; good news on Manuel Margot After a rough stretch, a day off was welcome and now a weekend series against the Pirates awaits.
JUNE 24, 2022 • TAMPABAY.COM
Set for MLB debut Aranda is starting at second base and will bat seventh in Friday's contest versus the Pirates, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Aranda is set to make his major-league debut Friday after being called up Tuesday. The 24-year-old will likely work in a reserve role for the time being, but due to his positional versatility, he'll likely crack the lineup relatively often. He'll look to build upon the .310 average with 11 homers, 40 RBI, 45 runs and three stolen bases he produced over 63 games with Triple-A Durham this season.
JUNE 24, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Receives first MLB call-up The Rays recalled Aranda from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.
Impact Aranda joins the 26-man active roster as a replacement for outfielder Manuel Margot (knee), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday along with fellow outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (hip). Since he had seen work at three infield spots (third base, second base and first base) this season, Aranda won't be a candidate to directly replace either Kiermaier or Margot in the Rays' regular lineup, but the versatile Vidal Brujan could begin seeing more work in the outfield to facilitate playing time for Aranda. The 24-year-old slashed .310/.386/.512 with 11 home runs and three stolen bases in 280 plate appearances for Durham prior to receiving his first big-league call-up.
JUNE 21, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Bat looks ready Aranda is batting .326/.404/.521 with nine homers, three steals and a 26:49 BB:K through 57 games for Triple-A Durham.
Impact With Brandon Lowe hurt and Vidal Brujan struggling at the dish, it's a little surprising Aranda hasn't gotten the call to Tampa yet. All he's done in Triple-A is essentially replicate his fine work in Double-A from last season (.325/.410/.540). Of course, his defense is not great and probably never will be, which may be all the difference for the Rays, but at least Aranda offers some versatility by virtue of his experience -- he's played first, second and third this year, and left field previously. As an excellent hitter with no clear position, he's an obvious fit for the DH slot.
JUNE 14, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned Sunday Aranda was optioned to minor-league camp Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Aranda was added to the 40-man roster in the offseason after racking up 322 plate appearances at Double-A Montgomery in 2021. He experienced plenty of success there, delivering a .325/.410/.540 line with 10 home runs and three stolen bases. Aranda could begin the season at Triple-A, though it's unclear where he'd fit on the big-league roster without injuries at any point in 2022.
MARCH 27, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Protected from Rule 5 draft Aranda was added to the Rays' 40-man roster Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact One of the top pop-up prospects in the minors last season, Aranda spent the bulk of the year at Double-A, where he hit .325/.410/.540 with 10 home runs and a 19.6 percent strikeout rate. He is a promising hitter, but it will be tough for him to find a place to play at the big-league level next season.
