Impact Wiemer is on the bench for a second straight day, with Adam McCalvy of MLB.com relaying that the consecutive absences fall in the category of a baseball decision rather than the outfielder dealing with an unreported injury. Though he already looks like one of the better defensive center fielders in the majors, the rookie's production at the plate has slipped of late. Since the start of July, Wiemer is slashing .200/.333/.300 with two extra-base hits in 16 games.

Impact Sal Frelick was called up for the first time Saturday and could cut into Wiemer's playing time going forward, though he'll be right field on this occasion while Blake Perkins takes Wiemer's spot in center. Since June 9, he's hit .136/.246/.322 in 19 games while striking out 36.2 percent of the time. He'll get a rest Saturday with Blake Perkins taking over in center field.
