Nationals OF Dylan Crews makes season debut versus Mets; Washington 3B Brady House demoted

Washington Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews is back in the majors, just less than two months after a surprise demotion near the end of spring training
MAY 19 • Associated Press
Sent to Triple-A Wiemer (hand) was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.
Impact Wiemer suffered a hand bruise during Monday's contest against the Mets and was sent for X-rays, though his move to the minors rather than the injured list indicates it isn't a serious concern. The 27-year-old has been a surprisingly productive bat for Washington this year with a .300/.410/.529 slash line in 83 plate appearances, but he's primarily filled a part-time role and will now head to Triple-A in favor of Dylan Crews.
MAY 19 • ROTOWIRE
Listed day-to-day Wiemer is being considered day-to-day after suffering a bruised hand during Monday's game against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.
Impact Wiemer wasn't removed from the game as a result of the injury, but he was sent for X-rays afterward, which came back negative. The team will presumably re-evaluate him Tuesday morning to determine his availability for the second game of the series.

Sitting against another RHP Wiemer is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Impact On the bench for the third time in four matchups versus a righty starter (Andre Pallante), the right-handed-hitting Wiemer appears as though he'll have to settle for a more of a part-time role against right-handed pitching. Wiemer is still maintaining a sizzling .476/.577/.857 slash line over 26 plate appearances on the season, but he's been much more effective against lefties (2.092 OPS) than righties (.825 OPS).
APRIL 6 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting again Saturday Wiemer isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.
Impact Despite opening the season white-hot at the plate, Wiemer will retreat to the bench for a second consecutive game while Daylen Lile, Jacob Young and James Wood start across the outfield for Washington.
APRIL 4 • ROTOWIRE
Taking seat Friday Wiemer is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact The scorching-hot Wiemer will get a day off after starting each of the previous four contests. Daylen Lile, Jacob Young and James Wood will form the Nationals' outfield trio in the team's home opener.

On base three more times Wiemer went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to the Phillies.
Impact The 27-year-old continued his blistering start to the season. Wiemer has started five of the Nationals' first six games and racked up a .588/.682/1.059 slash line in 22 plate appearances with a triple, two homers, four RBI, seven runs and a 5:4 BB:K. Nothing in Wiemer's track record suggests he'll keep up anything close to that pace -- he sports a career 29.2 percent strikeout rate against an 8.6 percent walk rate in the majors -- but he's providing exceptional production so far for deep-league fantasy GMs who took a chance on him.

Ties MLB record Wiemer went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored and tied an MLB record for most consecutive plate appearances reaching base to start a season in Monday's 13-2 win over the Phil...
Impact With two singles to start Monday's game, Wiemer officially matched the mark of 10 consecutive plate appearances reaching base to start a season set by Carlos Delgado in 2002. The streak stopped at 10 after he grounded out in the fifth inning. Regardless, the first three games of Wiemer's Nationals tenure couldn't have started much better as he's slashing .800/.846/1.600 with two home runs and eight RBI.

Homers again Sunday Wiemer went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run, a triple, a walk and an additional RBI in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Cubs.
Impact It was the first career triple for Wiemer, who's off to an impressive start with his new club. The 27-year-old has gone a perfect 6-for-6 with a pair of long balls in two appearances for the Nationals so far. Jacob Young's standout defense may be enough to keep him in the top spot in center field, but Wiemer is capable of playing the entire outfield and is pushing for more at-bats in the early going.
