Claimed by Nationals The Nationals claimed Wiemer off waivers from the Giants on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Impact It's the third organization Wiemer has been in since November and fourth since August. The 26-year-old slashed .236/.279/.436 with a 2:23 BB:K over 27 contests for the Marlins in 2025. Wiemer is out of minor-league options, so he should have a good chance to make the Nationals' Opening Day roster in a reserve role.

Impact After being DFA'd by the Marlins in November and landing in San Francisco via trade, Wiemer will now go through the waiver process for the second time in as many months. His subtraction from the 40-man roster will create room for Jason Foley, who signed with the Giants on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old hasn't seen extensive action in the majors since his rookie year in 2023, having bounced around to a few teams since then. Wiemer will compete for a spot on the Giants' roster and does not have minor-league options remaining.
