Earns first win Lucchesi (1-2) allowed one unearned run on two hits and a walk while striking out three across 3.1 innings, earning the win against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Impact Lucchesi didn't allow any earned runs for the first time since his first appearance this season. The 28-year-old has had a rough start with a 7.71 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 14 innings. He has allowed the most runs out of all Mets relievers. He continues to serve best as a bulk-innings reliever behind an opener.

Crushed by Cards Lucchesi (0-2) took the loss Monday, surrendering six runs on seven hits and a walk over 2.2 innings as the Mets fell 6-5 to the Cardinals. He struck out two.
Impact Five of the seven hits off the southpaw went for extra bases, including long balls by Harrison Bader and Nolan Arenado. Lucchesi did nothing to demonstrate he deserves a longer look in the rotation, and on the season he carries an ugly 10.13 ERA and 13:3 K:BB through 10.2 innings.

Called up for spot start Lucchesi was recalled to start Monday against the Cardinals, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact Lucchesi will get the ball as the Mets seek to give their other starters an extra day to rest. Lucchesi has given up six runs in eight innings of work so far this season, but his 11:2 K:BB makes him at least somewhat interesting. Daniel Zamora was optioned in a corresponding move.

Optioned off roster Lucchesi was optioned to the Mets' alternate training site Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Lucchesi's results through eight innings this season have been mixed, as he's allowed six runs but also owns a promising 11:2 K:BB. His demotion may be more a function of need than performance, however, as the Mets have two off days next week and won't need to use a fifth starter until May 4. Reliever Stephen Tarpley was recalled in a corresponding move.

Lasts three frames in no-decision Luchessi did not factor into the decision during Thursday's loss to the Cubs, giving up three runs on two hits and a pair of walks while striking out five across three innings.
Impact Luchessi got off to a strong start, sending five of his first seven batters down on strikes. Unfortunately, he issued back-to-back walks in the third inning followed by an RBI single to Willson Contreras and a two-run double to Kris Byrant to hand the Cubs a 3-0 lead. The 27-year old didn't last much longer, getting pulled after three innings and 60 pitches, 34 for strikes. Luchessi threw only 55 pitches in last outing, so there wasn't much improvement on his endurance. The left-hander should get another chance, although the exact date has yet to be announced.

Takes loss in nightcap Lucchesi (0-1) took the loss in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader as the Mets fell 7-2 to the Rockies, giving up three runs on four hits over three innings. He struck out...
Impact All three runs scored in the first inning as Colorado sandwiched four hits, including two doubles, around a sac fly, but Lucchesi settled down after that and got the hook after 55 pitches (37 strikes). The southpaw has seen little work in the early going due to the Mets' erratic schedule, but he'll look to get stretched out further in his next outing Friday at home against the Nationals.

Could follow opener Lucchesi will follow an opener (Jacob Barnes) Saturday against Houston and could do the same thing during the regular season, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Lucchesi appears to be locked in as the team's fifth starter, though he may not actually be a true starter. Following an opener could be a small boost to his fantasy value, as he'd get to skip the opponent's toughest batters the first time through the order and won't have to throw five innings to be eligible for a win.

Appears set as fifth starter Lucchesi is penciled in as the Mets' No. 5 starter after Jordan Yamamoto was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Manager Luis Rojas has mentioned this spring that he could potentially use an opener on occasion, so Lucchesi may not officially get every start when his turn comes around, but for now, he's set to follow Jacob deGrom, Marcus Stroman, Taijuan Walker and David Peterson in the rotation. Lucchesi is likely just keeping a spot warm until Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) is healthy, but if he outperforms Peterson, he could retain a starting role beyond that.
