Not starting against righty Loperfido is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.
Impact The left-handed-hitting Loperfido had started all three games against righty hurlers since being recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land last week, but he will take a seat in this one as the Tigers send right-hander Troy Melton to the hill. Loperfido is hitless in 15 plate appearance since being recalled from Sugar Land. Taylor Trammell will patrol left field for Houston in Monday's series opener.

Astros place utilityman LaMonte Wade Jr. on 10-day IL with right hamstring strain

The Houston Astros have placed LaMonte Wade Jr. on the 10-day injured list because of a right hamstring strain
JUNE 10 • Associated Press
Rejoins big club The Astros recalled Loperfido from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact Loperfido was optioned last week after recovering from a quad strain, but he's now back in the big leagues to take the roster spot vacated by LaMonte Wade (hamstring). The 27-year-old Loperfido will be among a handful of players in the mix for starts in left field for the Astros.

Activated, staying in minors The Astros reinstated Loperfido (quad/foot) from the injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Sugar Land, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact Loperfido has been on the IL since mid-April with a right quad strain, though he also suffered a foot injury while playing in a rehab game at Double-A Corpus Christi. Now fully recovered from both injuries, the Astros will keep the 27-year-old at Triple-A for now, giving him more time to ramp up before the team welcomes him back to the active roster. He's gone 7-for-23 (.304) with two RBI and two runs in six games since moving his rehab to Sugar Land.

Heating up during rehab Loperfido (quadriceps) has gone 7-for-23 (.304 average) with a double, a stolen base and a 4:7 BB:K in six games since moving his rehab assignment from Double-A Corpus Christi to T...
Impact Loperfido made his first and only appearance for Corpus Christi on May 24, striking out in his first two at-bats before leaving the game when he was hit on the foot by a pitch during his final plate appearance. He was held out of action the next two days but was cleared to play upon reporting to Sugar Land, where he's continued to stockpile at-bats. He played full nine-inning games in the corner outfield Tuesday and Wednesday, so Loperfido could be ready to return from the 10-day injured list during the Astros' home series versus the Athletics this weekend.

Impact Loperfido started his rehab assignment in Double-A on Sunday, when he went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts and a hit-by-pitch. He sustained a foot injury during that contest, but it doesn't appear to be a serious issue as he's expected to be back in action Wednesday. Loperfido continues to recover from a right quadriceps strain that landed him on the 10-day injured list in mid-April.

Set to begin rehab assignment Loperfido (quad) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Double-A Corpus Christi, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Loperfido started light baseball activity May 5 and has been sidelined since April 17 with a right quadriceps strain. Fellow big leaguers Hunter Brown (shoulder), Josh Hader (biceps) and Taylor Trammell (groin) will also be playing in Sunday's game for the Hooks. Loperfido could return sometime next week.

Engages in light running The Astros announced Monday that Loperfido (quadriceps) has started light running and light baseball activity, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Manager Joe Espada previously said on April 20 that Loperfido had been cleared for baseball activity, and though the outfielder appears to have since added some running work to the mix, he's not been able to take any other meaningful steps forward in his recovery from a right quad strain. The Astros are expected to turn to Zach Cole and Dustin Harris to serve as their primary options in left field while Loperfido remains on the shelf.

Will go through baseball activities Astros manager Joe Espada said that Loperfido (quadriceps) will do some baseball activities Monday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Loperfido is with the team in Cleveland for its brief three-game road trip, which is a good omen for his prospects of a quick return. He will be eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list April 28.

Houston Astros place outfielder Joey Loperfido on 10-day IL

The Houston Astros placed outfielder Joey Loperfido on the 10-day injured list because of a right quad strain
APRIL 19 • Associated Press
IL move official The Astros placed Loperfido on the 10-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to April 18, due to a right quadriceps strain.
Impact The 26-year-old sustained the quad injury during Friday's matchup with the Cardinals and was held out of Saturday's lineup, and he's now headed to the IL after being diagnosed with a strain. Loperfido will be eligible to be reinstated in late April, though it's unclear when he's actually expected to return.
APRIL 19 • ROTOWIRE
Likely headed for IL Manager Joe Espada said Loperfido (quadriceps) will likely be placed on the injured list, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Loperfido suffered a quad injury in Friday's game against the Cardinals and was held out of the lineup Saturday. An official transaction could be coming on Sunday, though a more detailed diagnosis and timeline for return remain unclear.
APRIL 19 • ROTOWIRE
Not in Saturday's lineup Loperfido (quadriceps) is not in the Astros' starting lineup against the Cardinals on Saturday.
Impact Loperfido injured his right quad during Friday's series opener. He'll rest up Saturday with the hopes that he is cleared to return to the lineup for Sunday's series finale. Houston will start Yordan Alvarez, Taylor Trammell and Cam Smith in the outfield from left to right.
APRIL 18 • ROTOWIRE
Managing quad tightness Loperfido was pulled from Friday's game against the Cardinals due to right quad tightness, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Impact Loperfido went 0-for-3 with a strikeout before being taken out of the game at the start of the seventh inning. Brice Matthews entered as the 26-year-old's replacement and could get more reps in left field if Loperfido has to miss any amount of time.
