With the loss, the right-hander's career record against the Cubs falls to 0-3 in seven games (six starts). Roughed up Saturday Ross (2-3) took the loss against Arizona on Saturday, giving up eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five over four innings.
Impact The right-hander gave up three runs in the first inning and another three in the fourth. He returned to the mound in the fifth frame and allowed the first two batters of the inning to reach base, leading to his removal from the contest. Both baserunners eventually came around to score, and Ross was charged with eight total runs in his shortest outing of the campaign. He has allowed two or fewer runs in five of his seven starts this season, but two disastrous outings have pushed his ERA to an undesirable 5.80. Ross will look for a better result in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for Thursday at Wrigley Field.

Fans seven in no-decision Ross allowed two runs on three hits and five walks while striking out seven in five innings in Sunday's loss to the Yankees. He didn't factor into the decision.
Impact Ross racked up a season-high seven strikeouts Sunday, but he had some issues with command. The right-hander threw only 53 of his 97 pitches for strikes, and he issued a season-high five walks as a result. Ross has posted a 4.26 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 31.2 innings across six starts this year. He tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Arizona on Saturday.

MAY 5, 2021 • Associated Press
Gets little help in loss Ross (2-2) took the loss Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings as the Nationals were downed 6-1 by Atlanta. He struck out three.
Impact The right-hander was engaged in a pitchers' duel with Huascar Ynoa through four innings, but once Ronald Acuna socked a solo shot off Ross in the fifth, things fell apart quickly for the Nats. He tossed 86 pitches (54 strikes) in coming two outs shy of his third quality start in five trips to the mound, and Ross will carry a 4.39 ERA and 21:9 K:BB through 26.2 innings into his next outing.
