Impact Pereda logged his second straight multi-hit effort with this performance, which included a key homer in the fifth inning. The catcher is now hitting .263 with a .754 OPS, two homers, four RBI and six runs scored over 42 plate appearances. Pereda and Mitch Garver continue to split time behind the dish while the Mariners wait for Cal Raleigh (oblique) to return.

Smacks first MLB homer Pereda went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the White Sox.
Impact Making just his sixth start this season, Pereda led off the seventh inning with a 392-foot blast off Sean Newcomb, his first major-league home run, to put the Mariners ahead 3-2. While the 30-year-old Pereda has been used sparingly in the majors, he swung the bat well with Triple-A Tacoma this year, slashing .321/.414/.417 with a pair of homers across 25 games. Pereda should continue to back up Mitch Garver while Cal Raleigh (oblique) is sidelined.

Recalled by Seattle The Mariners recalled Pereda from Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.
Impact Pereda was unable to crack the Mariners' Opening Day roster but has played well in Triple-A, where he is slashing .333/.418/.436 with two home runs and eight RBI across 91 plate appearances. The move gives the Mariners a third catcher on the 26-man roster, which is notable after Cal Raleigh was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Royals due to undisclosed reasons. Will Wilson (thumb) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Impact The Twins DFA'd Pereda on Friday after signing Victor Caratini, but the former will reclaim a 40-man roster spot now that he's been dealt to the M's. He won't take playing time away from Cal Raleigh, but Pereda could provide some quality organizational depth after slashing .308/.422/.465 across 192 Triple-A plate appearances last year.

Designated for assignment The Twins designated Pereda for assignment Friday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact The 29-year-old backstop will be replaced on Minnesota's 40-man roster by Victor Caratini, whose signing became official Friday. Pereda slashed .246/.325/.333 in 2025 across 78 MLB plate appearances split between the Athletics and Twins. However, he finished the minor-league season with an .887 OPS across 192 plate appearances at Triple-A, which could be enough for another team to pick him up off waivers.
