INJURIES

Contract selected Eickhoff had his contract selected by the Mets on Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact Eickhoff returned to the Mets on a minor-league deal on July 5, but he'll be recalled and is expected to work a few innings in Sunday's game against the Pirates. He made two starts for the big-league club earlier in the season, posting a 4.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with a 6:4 K:BB across 10 frames.

Returns to Mets Eickhoff signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Monday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Impact Eickhoff elected free agency after he cleared waivers Saturday, but he'll ultimately return to the Mets on a minor-league deal. The right-hander should report to Triple-A Syracuse after he made eight starts with the minor-league club earlier in the season.

Elects free agency Eickhoff cleared waivers and elected free agency Saturday.
Impact Eickhoff was designated for assignment by the Mets on Tuesday, and he'll become a free agent rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Syracuse. The right-hander made two starts for the Mets this year and allowed five runs on 11 hits and four walks while striking out six in 10 innings.

Designated for assignment The Mets designated Eickhoff for assignment Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Impact The righty gets demoted a day after the Nationals tagged him for eight hits, four of which were home runs, over six innings. Combined with his June 21 start, Eickhoff had a 4.50 ERA in 10 innings with the Mets, striking out six and walking four. Thomas Szapucki was recalled Tuesday to replace Eickhoff on the roster.

Coughs up four homers Eickhoff (0-1) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings Monday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Nationals.
Impact Eickhoff got off to an ugly start Monday, serving up back-to-back homers to Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner to begin the first inning. He gave up four solo homers in the outing, including two by Schwarber. He tossed four shutout innings in his season debut on June 21 but he now owns a 4.50 ERA through nine frames. If Eickhoff gets another shot in the rotation, he could take the mound in Yankee Stadium this weekend.
JUNE 29, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Getting another start Eickhoff is tentatively scheduled to make a second start for the Mets in Sunday's game against the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Eickhoff was awarded another turn through the rotation after he excelled during a spot start in the second game of Monday's doubleheader with Atlanta following his call-up from Triple-A Syracuse. He tossed four scoreless innings in his Mets debut, striking out three while scattering three hits and three walks. With Joey Lucchesi (elbow) set to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery, Eickhoff looks like he could get the opportunity to stick around as the Mets' No. 5 starter until the team gets Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) back from the 60-day injured list.

Morton earns 100th win, Stroman hurt as Braves blank Mets

Solid in no-decision Eickhoff didn't factor into the decision in a 1-0 loss to Atlanta during the second game of Monday's doubleheader, giving up three hits and three walks over four scoreless innings....
Impact Making his first appearance in the majors since 2019, the 31-year-old tossed 47 of 77 pitches for strikes and kept the Mets in the game as long as he could, but Ronald Acuna promptly led off the fifth inning with a solo shot as soon as Eickhoff was off the mound. The effort was likely enough to keep him in the rotation for now, but the former Phillie hasn't posted useful fantasy numbers since 2016.
JUNE 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Confirmed for Game 2 start Eickhoff was confirmed as the starter for Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader versus Atlanta, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact The right-hander will start in his Mets debut after Jacob deGrom covered five scoreless frames in the matinee. Eickhoff last pitched in the majors with the Phillies in 2019 and has a 5.52 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 41:13 K:BB over 44 innings this season at Triple-A Syracuse.

Impact Jacob deGrom (shoulder) was cleared to take the hill for Game 1, and he'll presumably pitch all seven innings of the contest unless he has a third straight start cut short due to injury or if he uncharacteristically struggles. The Mets called Eickhoff up from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday after he posted a 5.52 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 41:13 K:BB in 44 innings across his eight starts with the affiliate.

Gets big-league call The Mets selected Eickhoff's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact New York designated outfielder Mason Williams for assignment to clear room for Eickhoff on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster. According to Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record, Eickhoff will be available out of the bullpen for Sunday's series finale in Washington, and if he ends up going unused, he'll be a candidate to start one half of Monday's doubleheader with Atlanta. The 31-year-old right-hander hasn't been overly impressive through eight starts at Syracuse this season, posting a 5.52 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 8.4 K/9 across 44 innings.
