Dispatched to Triple-A The Yankees optioned Escarra to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.
Impact The move will make room on the 26-man active roster for outfielder Austin Slater, whom the Yankees acquired from the White Sox. Escarra has appeared in 39 games for the Yankees this season and has slashed .205/.299/.337 with one steal, two home runs and 10 RBI across 97 plate appearances. With Escarra down in Triple-A, Ben Rice will serve as the top backup to No. 1 catcher Austin Wells.

Filling in for resting Wells Escarra (personal) will start at catcher and bat eighth Monday against the Blue Jays.
Impact Though the Yankees never officially placed him on the paternity list, Escarra was away from the club for a few days to observe the birth of his child before he returned to the bench for Sunday's 12-5 win over the Athletics. Escarra caught the final two innings of that contest and will now pick up his 20th start of the season Monday while top backstop Austin Wells rests.

Will go on paternity list Escarra will miss Wednesday's game against the Reds and is expected to be placed on the paternity list, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Impact Escarra was supposed to be in Wednesday's lineup, but he'll instead be away from the team while attending the birth of his child. The Yankees didn't have time to call up a player to Cincinnati, so Austin Wells will start behind the plate with Ben Rice likely serving as the reserve catcher, per Hoch.

Big day against O's Escarra went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Saturday's 9-0 win over the Orioles.
Impact The 30-year-old rookie popped his second career homer in the second inning, hooking a Zach Eflin sweeper down the right-field line into the short porch at Yankee Stadium. Escarra continues to be used sparingly behind Austin Wells, and Saturday's RBI were his first since May 25, while the runs were his first since May 9.

Impact The steal was Escarra's first in the big leagues. The catcher has two multi-hit efforts over his last five games dating back to April 27.
