Gets first win Wendelken (1-0) secured his first win in an extra-innings victory over the Red Sox on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits over one inning.

Impact Wendelken's final line certainly wasn't pretty, as he allowed run-scoring singles to Marwin Gonzalez and Enrique Hernandez in the top of the 12th that gave the Red Sox a temporary 6-4 lead. However, the veteran reliever was awarded the victory when the Athletics mounted a successful rally in the home half of the frame, giving him his first win since 2020.

Put right to work Tuesday Wendelken (oblique), activated from the injured list earlier in the day, fired a scoreless eighth inning in a loss to the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing a hit and a walk.

Impact The veteran was sharp in his return, throwing 11 of 14 pitches for strikes and issuing his only free pass, to the dangerous Joey Gallo, intentionally. Now apparently back to full strength, Wendelken should return to a relatively high-volume middle-relief/later-inning role out of the bullpen.

Reinstated Tuesday Wendelken (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday.

Impact Wendelken had been on the injured list since early May with a left oblique strain. He appeared in four rehab outings with Triple-A Las Vegas starting June 17, allowing two runs across five innings. He'll now rejoin the Oakland bullpen and figures to see high-leverage innings before too long.

Impact It marked Wendelken's fourth outing with the Aviators and it was arguably his best showing since beginning the rehab stint June 17. Per Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle, manager Bob Melvin said that the right-hander could be activated "sooner than later." It's not clear whether Wendelken will get one more outing in with Las Vegas before being reinstated, but he figures to rejoin the Athletics bullpen at some point during this week's homestand, assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

Impact Wendelken faced Triple-A Tacoma twice in the four-game series that wrapped up Sunday, making some trouble for himself in the first appearance Thursday by throwing only seven of 20 pitches for strikes. However, that gave Wendelken a chance to test out his previously ailing oblique, and the fact he turned in a much sharper effort Sunday by getting six of nine offerings into the strike zone during his one frame is a good sign he may be ready for activation in coming days.
