Impact Hitting seventh in the order, Chisholm kick-started a two-out rally in the seventh inning with his triple into the right-center field gap, subsequently scoring the Marlins' first run of the season on a Corey Dickerson double. The 23-year-old has an exciting blend of power and speed, and the fact that he has yet to strike out through his first two starts of 2021 bodes well for his chances of turning that athleticism into actual production.

Secures starting job at second base General manager Kim Ng announced Chisholm as the Marlins' starting second baseman to begin the season, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact The 23-year-old entered camp as the favorite for the starting job at the keystone, and he was able to hold off Isan Diaz to nab the role. Chisholm struggled in his big-league debut last season with a .161/.242/.321 slash line over 62 plate appearances, but he remains one of Miami's top prospects. He had a .761 OPS with 16 stolen bases in 112 games at the Double-A level in 2019, and he should provide some value on the basepaths if he can get on base enough.

Diaz is 2-for-18 (.111) with zero homers through 11 games, although he does have a superior 5:6 BB:K. Could win second base job Chisholm is competing with Jon Berti and Isan Diaz for the starting second base job with the Marlins to begin the season, Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald reports.

Impact While the team still views Chisholm as a shortstop in the long term, Miguel Rojas holds down that job for now and is making a reasonable $5 million this season, with a $5.5 million club option for 2022 that becomes guaranteed if Rojas sees 500 PAs this year. As a result, if Chisholm proves in camp he doesn't need any more time in the minors, he'll have to slide over to the keystone.
