Racks up four hits in victory Triolo went 4-for-5 with a double and three runs in Saturday's 13-12 win against the Reds.

Impact Triolo was a key contributor in the Pirates' comeback from a 9-0 deficit, as he notched a hit and scored a run in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth frames. The rookie infielder finished with the first four-hit game of his career and logged his fourth multi-hit performance over his past six contests. Over that span, he's batting .579 (11-for-19) with two homers, three doubles, three RBI and nine runs scored.

Impact He's taking the roster spot of the injured Andrew McCutchen (Achilles). Triolo has collected a .664 OPS with home run and three stolen bases over 137 plate appearances during his time with the big club this season. He could see a little action at designated hitter with 'Cutch out.

Impact Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) returned from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and will rejoin the starting lineup Wednesday, so Triolo's run as the Pirates' everyday third baseman appears to be over. While starting all but one of the Pirates' last 28 games, Triolo hit a respectable .268 but otherwise offered little in the way of fantasy production (zero home runs, zero stolen bases, 13 runs and nine RBI).

Impact Triolo's time as Pittsburgh's everyday third baseman looked to be coming to an end when Ke'Bryan Hayes returned from the injured list Thursday, but the rookie's stint atop the depth chart was re-extended when Hayes went back on the IL just one day later after his lower-back discomfort flared back up. The Pirates could look to take things slower with Hayes this time around in light of the setback, so Triolo could be able to maintain a regular role coming out of the All-Star break. Since joining the Pirates on June 28, Triolo has hit .306 with no home runs or stolen bases and has scored six runs over 10 games.

Playing regularly at Triple-A Triolo (wrist) has gone 5-for-17 with two doubles, a walk, four RBI and two runs in four games since Triple-A Indianapolis reinstated him from the 7-day injured list May 9.

Impact Triolo missed the first month of the minor-league season while recovering from surgery to address a fractured hamate bone in his left wrist. After completing a four-game rehab assignment with Single-A Bradenton earlier this month, the 25-year-old third baseman received the green light last week to rejoin the Pirates' top affiliate.

When healthy, Triolo is expected to play on an everyday basis at Triple-A Indianapolis.
