Returns to Triple-A lineup Melton (ankle) went 1-for-4 with a run scored Wednesday in his return to the Triple-A Durham lineup after being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Impact Melton was back in action at Durham for the first time since April 18 after a left ankle sprain kept him on the shelf for more than two months. Prior to being activated, Melton completed a five-game rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League, during which he went 6-for-11 with a home run, two stolen bases and three walks.

Impact Melton suffered a Grade 2 left ankle sprain in a minor-league game Wednesday, and he could be sidelined for as many as six weeks. The timetable for a return likely means the 25-year-old outfielder will be on the shelf until at least some point in late May. Melton, one of Tampa Bay's top prospects, was slashing .231/.346/.431 with 10 extra-base hits, 10 RBI, 13 runs scored and 17 stolen bases over 82 plate appearances for Triple-A Durham before going down.

Impact Acquired from the Astros in a three-team trade over the winter, Melton was pushing for the fourth outfielder job with the Rays but will instead start the season at Triple-A.
