Avoids arbitration with Pirates Suwinski signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Pirates on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Impact Suwinski struggled to get in a groove at the plate in the majors in 2025, finishing the season with just a .534 OPS through 178 plate appearances. He turned in a .954 OPS across 230 plate appearances at Triple-A Indianapolis, however, which was good enough to earn him a $465,000 raise and another year in the organization. The 27-year-old finished the year as Pittsburgh's primary left fielder but is sure to face some competition during spring training.

Impact Suwinski delivered an RBI in the sixth inning to put the Pirates up 3-1. He's had an abysmal offensive season and spent much of the year in the minors, though he has at least one hit in five of his last seven games. Suwinski has closed the season as the Pirates' primary left fielder against right-handed pitching, though he's likely to face significant competition for a roster spot to begin 2026.

Impact Suwinski has been shelved since late August with a groin strain but is ready to roll after going 3-for-9 with a pair of home runs in three rehab contests. The 27-year-old had been seeing regular starts in the outfield against right-handed pitching pitcher he got hurt, but Suwinski would appear in line for a reserve role in the final two weeks.
