Let go by Bronx Bombers The Yankees non-tendered Hamilton on Friday.
Impact Hamilton spent the majority of the 2025 regular season on the Yankees' major-league roster but ended the year with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after being optioned by big club in late July. He appeared in 36 regular-season games for the Bronx Bombers and logged four hold along with a 4.28 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 40 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander will enter free agency and look to join a team in need of an added arm out of the bullpen.

Hit hard in loss Hamilton (1-1) worked one inning and took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk with no strikeouts, during Friday's 7-3 loss to Atlanta.
Impact With Max Fried still battling a blister, Hamilton served as the opener for a scheduled bullpen game, and it did not go well. The 30-year-old got roughed up to the tune of three runs in his lone inning, throwing 26 pitches and facing seven batters. It was a bit of surprise considering the right-hander had allowed just two earned runs over his prior 13 appearances, but following Friday's outing, his ERA for the season is up to 4.10 in 37.1 innings.

Max Fried hopes to pitch in Toronto, Cam Schlittler's soreness forces Yankees to use opener With Fried and Schlittler unavailable Friday against the Braves, the Yankees asked Ian Hamilton to open.

Serving as opener Hamilton will open Friday's game against Atlanta, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.
Impact The Yankees were initially expected to start Max Fried (blister) on Friday, but the team has opted to give Fried a few extra days of rest. Instead, Hamilton will open up what's expected to be a bullpen game. The 30-year-old reliever has a 3.47 ERA through 36.1 innings this season, and he hasn't pitched more than two innings in an outing this season. Coming out of the All-Star break, New York could look to get multiple innings out of Hamilton's fresh arm Friday.

Tosses two scoreless relief frames Hamilton allowed two hits and issued one walk while striking out two batters over two scoreless innings Monday against the Reds.
Impact Hamilton entered in the fifth frame with runners on the corners and one out. He walked a batter and then allowed an inherited runner to score on a single but avoided further damage by inducing a double play. Hamilton yielded just one more hit before exiting in the seventh inning. The right-hander hasn't given up an earned run in any of his past five outings covering 6.2 frames. He's registered a 3.90 ERA and 1.23 WHIP on the season while recording two holds.
