Recalled by ChiSox The White Sox recalled Jones from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Impact Jones was claimed off waivers just before Opening Day and is now up in the majors despite hitting just .138/.286/.276 with a 40 percent strikeout rate at Charlotte. He could see some action in left field while Andrew Benintendi (adductor) is out.

Claimed off waivers, sent to minors The White Sox claimed Jones off waivers from the Rockies on Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.

Impact Jones will join the third organization of his career after he was initially drafted by the Rays in 2019 before being dealt to the Rockies last March. He appeared in six games in the majors with Colorado in 2024 but otherwise spent the entire season at Triple-A Albuquerque, where he produced a .269/.346/.460 batting line to go with 16 home runs and 46 stolen bases over 406 plate appearances. Though he'll report to the minors to begin the upcoming season, Jones should be in the mix for playing time in Chicago at some point in 2025, given the lack of established talent on the big-league roster.

Dealt to Colorado The Rockies acquired Jones from the Rays on Thursday in exchange for left-hander Joe Rock, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Impact Jones was set to head into his second season as a member of the Rays' 40-man roster but still has yet to make his MLB debut. He was optioned to minor-league camp early in spring training and didn't appear to be particularly close to reaching the majors with Tampa Bay, but the move to Colorado should help accelerate his big-league debut. For now, Jones is still likely to play at the Triple-A level with the Rockies' top affiliate in Albuquerque, but his experience at both shortstop and in the outfield will give him multiple pathways to a call-up if Colorado loses a position player to an injury at any point. The 25-year-old saw most of his action in 2023 at Triple-A Durham, slashing .278/.344/.467 with seven home runs and 12 stolen bases across 188 plate appearances.
