Fans seven in loss
Otto (4-8) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out seven and taking the loss against Texas.
Impact
Otto gave up one run through three frames before serving up a go-ahead solo shot to Eloy Jimenez. The 6-foot-3 righty lowered his season ERA to 5.31 after allowing fewer than three runs for just the second time in his last eight appearances. He also tied his season best with seven punchouts. Otto will carry a 64:39 K:BB into his projected outing in Houston next week.

Takes no-decision Saturday
Otto allowed four runs on four hits, three walks and two hit batters while striking out five in five innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Saturday.
Impact
Otto struggled to find the zone, throwing 43 of 73 pitches for strikes. He's gone 0-5 with two no-decisions in his last seven starts, and he's allowed at least three runs in six of those outings. The right-hander owns a 5.50 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 57:38 K:BB in 72 innings across 15 starts this year. Otto is projected for a home start against the White Sox next week.

Yields three runs in loss
Otto (4-7) allowed three runs on seven hits, one walk and a hit batter while striking out five over 5.1 innings, taking the loss Monday versus the Mariners.
Impact
Otto got through the Mariners' order without much trouble once, but they accumulated two runs on four hits in the fourth inning. Ty France added a solo shot in the fifth, and the Rangers' offense couldn't get Otto off the hook. The 26-year-old right-hander has given up at least three runs in five of his last six starts, going 0-5 in that span, a noticeable struggle since he returned from the COVID-19 injured list in late June. He now has a 5.37 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 52:35 K:BB across 67 innings in 14 starts. He's projected to make his next start this weekend on the road against the Angels.

Takes loss in quality start
Otto (4-6) gave up three earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four over six innings to take the loss in a 6-2 defeat to the Mariners on Sunday.
Impact
Otto gave up a couple of homer runs but held the red-hot Mariners to three runs to earn his third quality start of the season. Otto came into the game with a bloated 6.08 ERA in July so the quality start could help him to build some positive momentum for the second half. Opponents are hitting .306 on his fastball which averages only 93 mph, so he could find more success if he uses his slider more often. Otto struggled in his last start against the Athletics, but he will have a chance to redeem himself against one of the league's worst offenses in his next expected start Friday at Oakland.

Can't escape fifth inning
Otto didn't factor into the decision during Tuesday's 14-7 loss to Oakland, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings.
Impact
Otto surrendered a single run in the second inning before permitting four baserunners and three runs in the fifth prompting his removal. The 26-year-old has now allowed a total of 14 runs over his last 15.1 innings across four starts, pushing his ERA from 4.24 to 5.50 in the process. Otto is set for one more start Sunday at home against Seattle prior to the All-Star break.

Takes tough loss Wednesday
Otto (4-5) took the loss Wednesday as the Rangers fell 2-1 to the Orioles, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.
Impact
Both runs crossed the plate in the second inning, as with two outs and two runners in scoring position, Corey Seager attempted to make a bare-handed play on a soft grounder by Ryan McKenna, only to throw the ball away and allow two runs to score instead of just one on the infield single. Otto got the hook after 91 pitches (58 strikes) and no further damage, but the Rangers' offense couldn't erase the deficit. It was the right-hander's best effort in three starts since returning from the COVID-19 list, but on the season he still carries a shaky 5.26 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 40:32 K:BB through 51.1 innings.
