INJURIES

Likely out for 2025 Stone underwent right shoulder surgery Wednesday and is likely to miss the entire 2025 season, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Impact Stone was initially sidelined with right shoulder inflammation in early September and was unable to return. He'll now likely be sidelined for all of 2025 after posting a promising 3.53 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with a 116:37 K:BB across 140.1 innings in 2024.

Transferred to 60-day IL Stone (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Impact Stone was already expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 regular season and his move to the 60-day IL opens up a spot for Edgardo Hernandez on the 40-man roster. Stone is still working his way back from right shoulder inflammation and he'll now be unavailable for the postseason.

Dodgers News: Gavin Stone's Season Comes to an Unfortunate End Gavin Stone’s season-ending injury raises concerns for the Dodgers’ pitching rotation as they head into the playoffs.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2024 • SACBEE.COM
Not expected back this season Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that it's "very unlikely" Stone (shoulder) will return this season, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact Stone had been scheduled to begin a throwing program this past weekend, but that didn't happen and he's yet to pick up a ball due to continued soreness in his right shoulder. The right-hander has missed all of September with shoulder inflammation. It's yet another blow to a Dodgers' rotation that's been decimated by injuries.

Set to start throwing program Stone (shoulder) is expected to begin his throwing program this weekend, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Stone landed on the 15-day injured list Sept. 6 due to right shoulder inflammation. The Dodgers' rotation has taken a hit with Stone, Clayton Kershaw (toe) and Tyler Glasnow (elbow) all on the IL, but Stone's progression to starting a throwing program is at least a step in the right direction with the playoffs just around the corner. Stone has an 11-5 record across 25 starts this season with a 3.53 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 140.1 innings.

Gavin Stone, the last Dodgers starter to stay healthy all season, goes on the IL

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed pitcher Gavin Stone on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation and it’s uncertain whether he will return this season
SEPTEMBER 7, 2024 • Associated Press
Lands on IL with shoulder injury The Dodgers placed Stone on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right shoulder inflammation.
Impact The Dodgers' rotation has taken another blow with Stone set to miss at least the next two weeks on the IL. The 25-year-old right-hander last pitched Saturday against the Diamondbacks, during which he allowed five runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four across five innings in a no-decision. For the season, Stone is 11-5 over 25 starts with a 3.53 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 116:37 K:BB across 140.1 innings. Justin Wrobleski was recalled by the Dodgers from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move, and he will likely start Saturday against the Guardians in Stone's place.

Gets through five innings Stone allowed five runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Impact Stone gave up four runs in the first inning and one run in the third. He left the game with the Dodgers leading 6-5, but the Diamondbacks tied it once more to deny him his 12th win of the year. Stone had allowed just two runs over 19 innings across his last three starts before Saturday's less impressive effort. He's now at a 3.53 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 116:37 K:BB through 140.1 innings over 25 starts. Stone has allowed 18 homers this year, with 12 of them coming over his last 10 starts, which remains a point of concern for the right-hander. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Guardians.

Dominant versus Rays Stone allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings.
Impact Stone was fantastic again Sunday, blanking the Rays into the seventh before Jonny DeLuca took him deep to tie the game at 1-1. The Dodgers would eventually regain the lead in the eighth, but Stone was already out of the game. The 25-year-old right hander has bene on fire over his last three starts, allowing just two runs in 19 innings while posting a 23:4 K:BB. Sunday was also the first time since late May he's been able to go back-to-back starts of at least six innings. Stone owns a 3.33 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 112:36 K:BB in 135.1 innings and lines up for a crucial start against the Diamondbacks on the road this weekend.

No trouble versus Mariners Stone (11-5) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out 10 over seven shutout innings to earn the win Monday over the Mariners.
Impact Stone's 10 strikeouts were a career high. He earned his second win in a row with this dominant performance, which was also the first time since his June 26 shutout against the White Sox where he didn't allowed a home run. Stone is now at a 3.44 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 105:34 K:BB through 128.1 innings over 23 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Rays.

Collects 10th win Stone (10-5) allowed one run on three hits and struck out six without walking a batter over five innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Brewers.
Impact Stone was sharp, throwing 61 of 86 pitches for strikes. The lone run on his line came from a William Contreras solo shot in the third inning. The long ball remains a problem for Stone -- he's allowed at least one homer in each of his last seven starts, and this was just the third time in that span he's been able to complete five innings. He's now at a 3.63 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 95:32 K:BB through 121.1 innings over 22 starts this season. Stone's next start is projected to be at St. Louis.
AUGUST 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Can't get through five frames Stone did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Phillies on Wednesday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out two.
Impact After surrendering a leadoff homer to Kyle Schwarber to open the contest, Stone managed to keep the Phillies off the scoreboard over the next three innings. However, the right-hander began to struggle in the fifth, giving up hits to two of the first three batters he faced before eventually being relieved by Alex Vesia with two outs in the frame. It marked the second start in a row in which Stone was unable to make it through five innings and he's now surrendered at least three runs in three straight outings. Stone has also coughed up at least one home run in six consecutive starts, posting a 19:7 K:BB over that stretch.
AUGUST 8, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Allows five runs in loss Stone (9-5) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five over four-plus innings to take the loss Friday versus the Athletics.
Impact Stone gave up multiple home runs for the second start in a row, as Shea Langeliers and Seth Brown each took him deep for solo shots in the fourth inning. Stone stayed in for the fifth, but he couldn't get an out, and Joe Kelly also allowed an inherited runner to score on a two-run home run by Brent Rooker. This was the fourth time in five outings that Stone has given up at least four runs. He now has a 3.63 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 87:31 K:BB across 111.2 innings through 20 starts this year. Walker Buehler (hip) will require another rehab start, so Stone is likely to get at least one more turn through the rotation, which is tentatively projected to be at home versus the Phillies. With River Ryan pitching well in his first stint in the majors, Stone's place in the rotation over the remainder of August is up in the air.
AUGUST 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Gets little help in loss Stone (9-4) took the loss Friday as the Dodgers fell 5-0 to the Astros, giving up four runs on nine hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out three.
Impact The Los Angeles offense couldn't get anything going against Framber Valdez and the Houston bullpen. but Stone didn't help his cause by serving up long balls to Alex Bregman in the third inning and Jon Singleton in the fourth. The right-hander did last six innings for the first time in four July starts, but his 6.27 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB through 18.2 innings on the month are still rough. His spot in the rotation is safe for now, but once Walker Buehler (hip) is ready to return, Stone could be fighting for one job with River Ryan and Justin Wrobleski, and that's before considering any trade deadline additions for the team. Stone is scheduled to make his next start on the road next weekend in Oakland.

Steady in no-decision Stone allowed a run on six hits and struck out three without walking a batter over five innings Friday versus the Red Sox. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact Stone was on the hook for a tough-luck loss until Freddie Freeman's grand slam in the eighth inning saved the Dodgers. After allowing eight runs over 7.2 innings across his last two appearances before the All-Star break, this was an encouraging performance from Stone. The right-hander is now at a 3.19 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 79:28 K:BB through 101.2 innings over 18 starts this season. With the Dodgers potentially welcoming back Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) and Tyler Glasnow (back) next week, it's unclear when Stone will start again. The Dodgers open next week with a four-game set at home versus the Giants before traveling to Houston for a three-game series.
