Impact Sheets has been out since late August due to a sprained left foot, but he'll return in time for the Padres' final two regular-season games and the postseason. The 30-year-old is expected to work exclusively as a DH now that he's healthy, allowing Ty France to keep his hold on the starting first base job.

Impact Sheets has been sidelined for over three weeks but is trying to make a return before the end of the season. If the veteran slugger does manage to get back on the field, he's expected to be limited to DH and pinch-hitting duties. Prior to getting hurt, Sheets posted a .211/.313/.388 slash line with 16 homers, 46 runs, 46 RBI and four stolen bases over 123 games.

Impact Sheets landed on the injured list Aug. 30 due to a left foot sprain. As of Sept. 8 he was still in a walking boot, and it's not certain that he'll be ready to rejoin San Diego before the end of the campaign. If Sheets does manage to make it back, he probably wouldn't be put in the field. Luis Campusano and Austin Hays have been getting most of the Padres' starts at DH of late, and Sheets could potentially get occasional starts there while also serving as a bench bat.

Impact Sheets will make his first trip to the IL this season. The 30-year-old has been struggling over his last 30 games, batting just .179/.296/.269 with two homers and six RBI over 78 plate appearances. San Diego recalled Sung-Mun Song from Triple-A El Paso to replace Sheets on the 26-man roster.
